Do you know the history of Canvas?
The first work of art at Canvas is the building itself, extensively renovated to designs by Roy McMakin and Domestic Architecture. The building dates to the mid-’50s, when it served as the workshop and warehouse of Western Bridge, a general contractor in Seattle. Through the rest of the century the warehouse served a range of industrial businesses.At the beginning of the 21st century the building was renovated to serve as the site of a contemporary art space, named after the building’s original tenant.

McMakin’s design for Western Bridge overlays a symbol of domesticity — the double-hung house window — onto the entry of a concrete warehouse, pointing to Western Bridge’s dual status as a public home for a private collection. Inside, the building wove private and public spaces in an interlocking composition, offering galleries in a range of scales to suit art in various media. Western Bridge operated between 2004 and 2012 as a nonprofit exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, founded by local Seattle art collectors. The collection contains works in video, photography, and other media by an international roster of mid-career and emerging artists, which have been exhibited in many major museums in North America and Europe. Western Bridge also commissioned new installations from various artists. Art is celebrated all around the space, from the architecture to the walls; it is a masterpiece in itself.

It's a free, 2 night community building light art festival happening Aug 18 and 19 and the Mary Olson Farm in August. The festival features local light artists with their creations woven into the historic nature of the farm alongside sonic explorations in sound.

The Haunted Tavern is a Dark Pop-Up Cocktail Experience that allowed guests to explore one of Seattle's most haunted venues while sipping on themed cocktails and listening to dark, chilling tales. There were lots of spooky surprises!

This immersive cocktail experience is run by the descendants of Ichabod Crane. You will visit one of the most haunted locations in Seattle as the tavern keeper guides you through a 4-part interactive cocktail journey. Hear the chilling and dark tales that haunt the venue, and beware the ghost that never left... Your night will be filled with surprises—the ghost tends to sit in on the experience and scare those brave enough to enter!

That feeling of partnering with the best!!
We were thrilled to plan and design this 50th birthday celebration. Our client did not have too many requests for the overall vision other than "we want it to feel like a high end night club, with accents of red and gold." We got to work building an event design board and sourcing the perfect event partners to execute the vision.
There were custom elements throughout the night that were tailored to the client, including:
- Interactive signature drink wall where guests could leave a birthday message.
- Quotes from friends and family on small cards around the space.
- The bar was surrounded with a custom artistic decal with words the attendees had sent in describing the client.
We love creating luxury experiences that reflect our clients unique personality! Thankful for every partner involved.
