It’s your time to shine, Central District! ❤️‍🔥 I lived in this neighborhood before I moved to West Seattle, so it has a special place in my heart. This is where I’d walk around, feeling so inspired by the small businesses and sense of community that I desperately wanted to cultivate. This is where Picnic Party was born in 2020!! ❤️‍🔥OUR NEW LOOK ❤️‍🔥After nearly four years and 600+ picnics, I think it’s time to spruce things up around here!

When thinking about the visual identity for Picnic Party, I wanted to capture a feeling.

How do you put into words what it feels like when you step outside and feel the sun on your face? When you are going somewhere to meet people you love?

To me, it feels hopeful. It feels cheerful. It feels like a place you can let your guard down. It feels a lot like a mini vacation.

I took inspiration from vintage travel posters and old Seattle history, I chose bright colors that you might see right in your neighborhood. I chose some things that felt new, others that felt old, a mix of tradition and innovation which is a lot like a good event, a good meal, or a good outfit.

You helped us build this business, and this work is a love letter back to you, Seattle. 💌

hi, lovers 💓 it’s been a while since we’ve been really active on socials but we are coming up on one of our favorite holidays! We’ve been doing only a few events here and there this winter, but we’re excited for a week of celebrations with valentines, palentines, and of COURSE, galentines!! 🎀

Have you ever wondered why shopping small even matters?! What would happen if we 🛑 STOPPED 🛑 shopping at small businesses? 🤔😣

1. Higher Prices: A lack of small businesses can lead to higher prices for goods and services. In a more monopolistic market, companies may have greater control over pricing without the pressure of competitive alternatives or people who want to serve the communities where they live.

2. Reduced Quality of Service: Many entrepreneurs enter the market because they see a way to provide better customer service and higher-quality products. In a market dominated by a few large entities, there might be less motivation to prioritize customer satisfaction.

3. Less Innovation: Small businesses are often hubs of innovation, bringing new ideas and products to the market. If they struggle or disappear, there may be a slowdown in innovation and creativity as larger corporations may be less agile and more risk-averse.

4. Economic Inequality: Concentration of economic power in a few large corporations could contribute to increased economic inequality, as wealth and resources become concentrated in the hands of a limited number of entities. One of the beautiful benefits of entrepreneurship is the ability to break generational poverty. When big business only looks for certain values, education, demographics, or experience, we close doors for people in marginalized communities to bring their brilliance to market.

So, what can we do to ensure our vibrant Seattle economy is here to stay?!
