D33PSTAT3 music blends the energy of heavy bass with the raw power of orchestral instruments, resulting in a unique electronic style that evokes strong emotions and leaves listeners awestruck. After a long summer of gigs in 2022, highlighted by their second year performing at Bass Canyon (WA), the group is preparing their next series of releases for Fall and Winter. The goal of D33PSTAT3 is to ide

ntify the ways in which governments and systems seek to control people. Through their music, Joey and Alex call out the groups who confine society, informing people of what they can do to fight back.

I've been trying to write this caption for like the last half hour, and nothing is sticking so just going off the cuff now. imagine this says something about it being cold outside so pretend its hot like it was at bass canyon. The complete video and audio of our set is gonna be single and ready to mingle at noon on Monday 11/28/22. I've heard it's got some ... exhibitionist proclivities, so I imagine there won't be any complaints about too many eyeballs watching it do its thing.

Yep. That's where I'm at haha. Jokes about a DJ set's conjugal preferences. Anyway, video drops (premiers) 11/28/22 on our YT page (audio / tracklist is already live and a free DL on our soundcloud). Gonna be exploring more thoughtful music / brand stuff over there, stuff that doesn't land super well on that *other* popular video platform, but is much truer to what Alex and I believe in - as artists, activists, and human beings.

Shout out to my better half in this season of thanks.

Throughout the pressures of our journeys together, this gem of a man has been my rock. The Yang to my Yin, and perpetual foil.

No matter the opponent, no matter the arena, we’ve always marched into battle together, conquering beer pong tables, debate teams, and malfunctioning CDJs along the way.

And we March on, steadfastly determined as we engage the next cycle of our professional path.

For every challenge, pitfall, trap, and triumph, past and present, that we continue to face - I’m thankful beyond belief to have you!

A guy I met this weekend at a party told me that he loves going to independent music festivals because that's where the vibe feels the best. No commercialization, no over-the-top drama: just good music from artists who care deeply about their craft.

That idea resonated for me. Big festivals are fun, but the small local ones are always where I have the best time. And that's why I'm so excited to play Forgotten Mountain this year.

Just a warning - only come out for this if you want to have an absolutely UNFORGETTABLE experience.

THIS IS A LONG-WINDED SENTIMENTAL POST

About eight years ago, I met Joey on SPU Debate team as a freshman in college. We got along because we both liked politics and arguing. As I started to hang out with Joey more I started to listen to the weird electronic music he always put on his little Block Rocker speaker.

Eventually, while listening to Porter Robinson, I had an epiphany: here was a type of music that I could make without needing to wrangle band members! So about five years ago, I texted Joey telling him I'd just bought this software called Ableton and was going to start learning to make dance music. He immediately invited himself over to come try it out, and within a few hours we were hooked.

First couple of projects were terrible. Next couple of projects were similarly terrible. After two years of making terrible songs, we booked our first DJ gig, which we bombed. Then we played another gig and played pretty well. Then we played the silent disco at Bass Canyon and pi**ed off the other DJ's by jumping around too much on our shared stage.

Our projects started getting better, and we put out our first EP in January 2021. It wasn't perfect, but it was the first time we released a body of work that didn't completely suck. And we kept grinding. Even after Joey moved to California to be closer to family, we kept working on music over Zoom and eventually started to make some pretty okay songs. In summer 2021 got to play on a REAL stage at Bass Canyon, completely botched a live sound gig, and finished writing the songs that would comprise our second EP, Manifesto.

Since then, it's only gotten better. We're both pretty decent DJs now, and our music has grown with us. This summer we've got festival and club bookings to keep us busy, along with about 15 work-in-progress songs that are some of the best work we've ever done. And it's only going to keep getting better.

Happy 28th birthday, Joey. Couldn't do this without you, and wouldn't even want to.
