We are so sorry to have to do this, but the road conditions in the greater Seattle area are just not safe this afternoon and we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's cruise. Refunds will be processed next week.
We hope to see you on board the ship next year!
And if you would like to make a donation to the Foundation in honor of the ship's 100th birthday this year, we would welcome your support! You can do that on our website: https://www.virginiav.org/donate/
If you purchased tickets for other guests, please be sure to pass this information on to them.
Happy holidays and stay safe!
Debra Alderman and Team Virginia V
(And enjoy one of Jul the Tapdancing Reindeer's latest routines!)
Today we marked an exciting milestone for VIRGINIA V! The team at Pacific Fishermen Shipyard installed the final plank on the hull of the ship, which has been undergoing extensive restoration for over a year. Traditionally, the final plank to go onto a ship is called the “whiskey plank” as it was historically celebrated with a round of whiskey. Congratulations to the team and keep up the good work! We still have a ways to go before the ship will be ready to go back into the water and be readied for a busy operational season. and to start the centennial celebration. Keep checking back for more updates.
Shipwrights installing steamed plank to VIRGINIA V HULL, 3-1-22
We were able to capture video of Chris Woodard and his team of incredible shipwrights at Pacific Fishermen Shipyard taking a giant plank out of the steam box and getting it up and braced onto the hull of VIRGINIA V this morning. The whole thing took under 5 minutes! Get a cup of coffee and enjoy watching the process.
Here's the video of the massive new stem being lowered into place by the crane earlier today. Shipwrights are standing by to do adjustments to make sure it fits just right.
Removal of stem from Virginia V on 5-12-21
Yesterday was an exciting day for Virginia V! The old stem was removed to make way for a new one that is being finished and will hopefully be installed next week. Here's a video of the lift off.
