Hello Sigma Kappa Parents,
We are nearing capacity on the Mother Daughter Tea.
We have heard from many of you, but not all. There are only about 20 spots available right now.
The first ones to RSVP will get the last few seats. There may be a waiting list. You will be contacted if you are on it. Deadline for RSVP is this Sun, Jan 18 or when the last spots are taken, if before the 18th.

**We are still in need of food item donations such as cookies, bars, scones, any little sweet treat finger foods. Contact Mary Rewa at [email protected]** Please let Mary know what you will donate.

**We are still in need of auction item donations. Contact Lesley King at [email protected]. The more auction items we have, the more funds we raise for our SK girls.** 100% of funds raised goes back to your daughters.
-----Last year we had 80 items for the Auction. As of right now, we have 16. We need your help!-----Please let Lesley know what you will donate-----

We are also asking for help with set-up, food prep and clean-up. Dads are welcome for this part, too. You can hang out with Richard in the kitchen, just don't do too much taste testing! Set-up starts at 10 am. Wear something that you can get dirty and change into your tea clothes after helping with set-up.

To entice you even more, please click here to view some of the goodies from last year to give you ideas of what you will eat, what you will get to bid on, and what you can donate!

Thank you so much.
We will see you on Sunday, January 25th at 10 am for set-up and1 pm for The Mother-Daughter Tea!

Sincerely,

SIGMA KAPPA PARENT’S CLUB SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 MEETING MINUTES
PRESENT:
Richard White, President Karen and Mark Stair, Secretary & Newsletter Chairs
Linda and Bill Park, Treasurers Mary Rewa, Spreads Coordinator Raley Rewa, PC Liaison
Theresa Cuthill, Julie Fry, Megan Evans, Valerie Patton, Darren Sonnen, Melissa Bernovich, Dave & Norma Brengelmann, Janine & Bob Bozorth, Mike & Lisa Hagen, Marita & Mikael Ohman, and Genevieve Rucki

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:10 pm by Richard. WELCOME everyone. So glad to see familiar faces and new faces to SK. What is Parents Club? We want to enhance our daughter's experience while here at SK. Small things like Halloween and Valentines Treat Bags, or bigger items like quarterly Spreads during finals, and even bigger items like the office remodel, downstairs lounge and exercise room remodel, just to name a few.
TREASURERS REPORT: As of this date, there is $5262.66 in the account. This is a great buffer to supply the beginning of year items, like paying for Bid Day This is about $2500 more than at this time last year, but we have not paid for June's year end gift to the house.
OLD BUSINESS: Last June's End of year Gift.
We wanted to revitalize/improve the courtyard. There's a lot of issues with that: low sun until summer, big trees. We said we were going to clean up the area, then SK Alumni Board said they would help, but an agreement was never reached. We wanted to wait until we can get more feedback from new members and just do things on our own without Alumni board help. We would like to consider different ways to spend the funds that we raise. Should we pay for smaller items each quarter, so all the girls can get to use/enjoy the new items? More of the big expenditure items like the lounge renewal take a year or two and some of the girls graduate before they have a chance to enjoy them. Maybe Raley can put out suggestion boxes. We are not allowed to do structural changes, since it is a historical house. To change anything, we have to ask SK Corporation Board. No urgency for this decision. We will get some more ideas from new members.

QUESTION FOR THE FALL IS HOW DO WE GET MORE PARENTS INVOLVED?
Mary Rewa, Spreads Coordinator, is the only Board member to be left after this year. We need more parent involvement. Maybe Parents Club will only be able to do Spreads, no other activities like Mother-Daughter Tea, or other events. Those things can only happen with parent engagement and officers to keep things running. We also need the SK girls to encourage their parents to get involved. We need contact information, engagement, and donations from the beginning of the year.
Please consider being an officer. Advantage to do so now, is you have all of us here to mentor you throughout the year and pick our brains! Maybe have the vote in January. We can get you through the Mother-Daughter Tea and Auction, which is the biggest event of the year. Be engaged. Be involved.
Officer Positions:
President: Richard White, Erin is a senior
Vice-President: vacant
Secretary/Newsletter: Karen and Mark Stair, Kaitlin is a senior
Treasurer: Linda and Bill Park, Kaylee is a senior
Spreads: Mary Rewa, Raley is a sophomore

NEW BUSINESS: 2014-2015 CALENDAR OF EVENTS
October:
Friday, OCTOBER 17th, 7-10 pm. SK ULTRA VIOLET GALA to raise funds for SK's philanthropic charity, Alzheimer's disease. Click this link for ticket information.

Wednesday, OCTOBER 29th, 6:30 pm. Parents Club Meeting and Halloween Treat Bags. We ask for donations like candy, pencils, stickers, gum. Parents can also drop off home-baked goods. At the end of the Parents Club meeting, we set up stations and fill about 150 bags, 1 for every SK girl. Parents get to snack on any leftovers. We set the dates for the next few months, then Raley will check to make sure there are not conflicts with house schedules.

Fall Fundraiser: Poinsettia Sales are going on NOW! These are high quality plants from a quality nursery. There were order sheets at Bid Day, Presentation Day, and our first meeting last week. Orders and payments are due by Monday, November 3rd. Pick up at SK house will be the Wednesday before Thanksgiving break. Click this link to see the order details and this link for order form. Theresa Cuthill and Mary Rewa are in charge of this fundraiser again. Thanks ladies! Any questions email Theresa at [email protected] and Mary at [email protected].

November:
Thursday, November 20th at 6:30 pm, Holiday Ornaments-Making Party, This is always a process. We have to find a creative person. They come up with a few designs and send us pictures via email. We vote, then make them at a November meeting. Marilyn Evans will lead the design this year. Thanks, Marilyn! It's always a fun night. You do not have to be creative or crafty to make them. Come join us. Here is a link to view pictures of the last few years holiday ornaments that Parents Club made for all the ladies of SK.

SK Holiday House Decorating. Saturday, November 29th or Sunday, November 30th. 9 am until finished.
The date is not set yet. We have to find out about the Apple Cup game time and will send out date and time later.

December:
December 6-12. Finals and Spreads Week.
Spreads are the quarterly food and snacks that Mary Rewa, Spreads Coordinator, sets out the week of Finals. The cooks are not here during finals week. No formal meals. Mary buys healthy food and snacks and delivers it at the beginning of finals week. The girls set it out throughout the week, so the girls will have available treats at all times of the days and nights of studying. The girls really appreciate this sustained, weekly event every quarter. If anyone is interested in helping Mary with this just let her know at [email protected]. It is a big job. The girls love home-made treats, too. Parents have dropped off cookies, salads, and soups. Make whatever you can, for 30 to 150. It is all appreciated.

Holiday Break: December 13, 2014-January 4, 2015.

Holiday House Take Down: January 3rd, 2015, 9 am until finished. All decorations must be taken down before Jan 4th when the ladies of SK return.

January 2015:
Wednesday, January 14th, 6:30 pm, Parents Club Meeting. Two weeks before the Mother-Daughter Tea to finalize all preparations.

Sunday, January 25th, 1-3 pm. The MOTHER-DAUGHTER TEA. Set up is at 9 am.
This is the biggest event of the year. A fantastic day for the ladies of SK and the significant female figures in their lives: moms, sisters, grandmothers, aunties. We have to limit the number each person can bring so as not to be overly crowded in the dining room. The ladies can proudly introduce SK house and friends to their family. People dress up a bit and enjoy tea, coffee, punch and a variety of finger foods. People donate food items. There is also an auction, which is the biggest fundraiser of the year. Items are donated such as gift baskets, event tickets, home made items, all kinds of wonderfully creative ideas. More details to follow.

February 2015:
Wednesday, February 11th, 6:30 pm, Parents Club Meeting and making Valentine's Treat Bags.

March 2015:
Father-Daughter Event maybe a Husky Basketball game. either Thursday, March 5th or Saturday, March 7th at 1:30 pm. Saturday may be better so out of town Dads can make it. More details later.

As we move forward in the next meetings, we fill in on any items that we left open. Please join us for meetings and events so your ideas can be heard. We urge you and your daughters to let all of the SK families know how important it is to join Parents Club and to stay connected to the lives of your daughters and their new friends and families.

Thank you for your time and here's to a great year at UW and SK!

Sincerely,
SK Parents Club

Hello Sigma Kappa Parents,
SAVE THE DATE!

Now that school is back in the swing, it is time to send out more information about the Gala scheduled for October 17. Please read the information below.

Jenny Penner, Sigma Kappa Mu Vice President of Philanthropic Services, sent out an email about the new date for SK's FIRST ULTRA VIOLET GALA. This event is set for October and Jenny needs a lot of help! If you would like to help in any way, please contact Jenny.
This event is for everyone that would like to help SK raise funds to fight Alzheimer's Disease.

Please see the information below and visit the link for all of the information you need for this event. We hope you will respond, contribute, and attend this event as it will help raise funds for Alzheimer's Disease, one of Sigma Kappa's Philanthropic endeavors.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jenny Penner and I am the Vice President of Philanthropic Service for SK Mu Chapter. I am in the process of planning the First Annual Ultra Violet Gala and I need your help!

Firstly, I would like to begin by cordially inviting you to the Gala on October 17, 2014 from 7-10 pm at the Hall at Fauntleroy in West Seattle. There will be a silent auction, a keynote speaker from the Sigma Kappa Foundation, delicious appetizers and good music. You may purchase tickets to the event via the website listed at the bottom of this email, or you can contact me directly and purchase a ticket through me. All proceeds will go directly to the Sigma Kappa Foundation. Your donations are tax deductible. We hope that you will be able to attend this event! Your significant others are more than welcome to attend the event as well--they will also need a ticket--however, it is advised that you do not bring along your children as it will be a late night. I hope to see you all there!

Secondly, in addition to purchasing tickets, I am looking for DONATIONS for the silent auction that will be occurring at the event. Every item donated is much appreciated, whether it is small or large! Below I've listed some suggested items, but this list is by no means comprehensive so please feel free to be creative. The more items that we have donated, the more successful this event will be, so anything that you can donate is much appreciated. Thank you in advance for all your help and support!

Please click on this link to see the procurement form. http://gallery.mailchimp.com/840e8834ceecf453839a9b007/images/SKUltraVioletGalaDonationForm.jpg.

SIGMA KAPPA PARENTS CLUB,
First Parents Club Meeting of the school year, tonight at 6 pm
Parents come join us tonight at SK. Many things to plan for this year. You do not want to miss out on any of the events. The only way to know about them is to join us and make sure we have your email and contact information. Lots of fun throughout the year, plus we get to see our SK daughters!
See you tonight.

SK Parents Club was busy this weekend trying to be a corner of calm in the SK house, as the new families came in on Bid Day. We know we were not as busy as the SK girls getting everything spiffy for their new sisters, nor as busy as the new baby doves getting ready for their new home, but we were happy to be the calmness in the cyclone. As your daughters settle in, they will reassure you that it was totally worth it all. Welcome New Sigma Kappa Families! The Parents Club has many activities throughout the year and we count on your contributions and involvement. You should have all picked up a Parents Club Brochure on Bid Day or Presentation Day and received some information in your SK Parents packet. We can't wait to meet you all at our monthly meetings and fun events! First meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept 24th at 6 pm at the SK house. See you there!

SIGMA KAPPA PARENTS CLUB
Hello Sigma Kappa Parents,

We were asked to forward this invite to our SK Parents. Please see the invitation for Sunday, June 1st below. Hope to see you there!

Dear SK Parents,

On behalf of our Seattle Area Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter, I am proud to extend an invitation to you for an informal reception to get to know our newest alumnae, honor the sisters and parents who have supported them in their achievement, and discuss our collective accomplishments and opportunities. We will host a light lunch at the Mu Chapter house on Sunday, June First at 1:00 pm.

This event has a dual purpose - to welcome and re-engage our fantastic local alumnae and to raise funds for the Sigma Kappa Foundation – to that end, we ask for a minimum $25 tax deductible donation to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in order to attend.

You can present your donations in cash or check at the event, pay online at the event (we will have a computer available for you to submit electronic payments), or mail a check payable to the Sigma Kappa Foundation with “SASKA 2014 Spring Event” in the memo line to:
