Family-owned since 1986, the Seattle Drum School is a music institution of 40+ teachers at two locations (Lake City & Georgetown), providing lessons for guitar, bass, piano, voice, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, recording, DJ, and drums (duh). From beginning lessons to master classes, SDS offers a variety of instruction for every level and every need. Also supporting live music and community events at our event space, The LAB at 1010 at our Georgetown school.

Woodstick was created by Chris Kimball back in 2003 with the help of Donn Bennett . This event has brought some of the greatest drummers and raised thousands of dollars for many causes over the years. This next event will be helping save PARKLAND SCHOOL. This will also be the home of Woodstick annually. New to Woodstick is selling floor space next to featured and alumni drummers and also general spaces. We will have several clinics, zoom in to three other countries and play along with a live band. There will be raffles for various cool drum items such as a Mapex Snare as Mapex is the main sponsor. Get your tickets now as spaces are limited.

Woodstick will be helping save an Historical School. Developers were going to scrape it off and build apartments. Julie Collison of Collison Reality saved the landmark, but it needs so much love.

Q: How has a student inspired you?
A: “There have been so many. I am inspired by students interested in songwriting (any age). Their creative spirit is amazing to witness. Also older beginner students who are trying an instrument for the first time.”

Q: My essential tools for teaching music are:
A: “I teach not only theory but to support the students individual, artistic musical voice. I do this with improv and creative exercise. Music is a language in listening first.”

Today is World Kindness Day which promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. The purpose of this day is to help everyone understand that kindness is what binds us all together. This understanding has the power to bridge the gap between nations. With kindness, we can overcome the divides of politics, race, religion, gender, and so much more.⁣
