ABOUT
As drummers, we enhance the music through emotion and a careful understanding of timing. Drumming is a sensory experience; the drums are incredibly visual instruments and can be learned simply by watching and listening. There are many interpretations of the long-standing tradition of drum kit technique. I focus on imparting concepts with multifunctional applications, balancing classical methods with naturally intuitive movements while emphasizing music reading, listening, and breathing.
I have had the privilege of studying with remarkable instructors, including Joe Morello, Pat Petrillo, Frank Ottis, David Garibaldi, and El Negro Hernandez. With 35 years of professional drumming experience, I have performed across the US, Europe, and Asia. I have taught music for 20 years at all levels, covering drum kit, introductory piano, and guitar. Additionally, I have been an instructor in digital music recording and have taught audio recording at John F. Kennedy University.
My performance credits include many large music festivals like Coachella, Outside Lands, and High Sierra. I have shared the stage with various musical luminaries, including Paul Schaefer, Bernie Worrell, Jerry Harrison, Mike Watt, Jane Wiedlin, Jorge Santana, and Zigaboo Modeliste. I have toured extensively with the Delvon Lamer Organ Trio, electronic groups Pacific Horizon and Screens, the Eric McFadden Trio, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, alongside blues artist Sonny Rhodes, and with Southern soul group Lord Loves A Working Man. Locally, I've performed with Aqualizer, members of McTuff, and The True Loves.
I have also toured with acts supporting Blackalicious, Les Claypool, Del the Funky Homosapien, String Cheese Incident, Galactic, Ani Difranco, Gotye, and Phantogram.
