June – traditionally the most popular month for weddings.
So while couples are figuring out whether to postpone or proceed with their wedding in a socially distant manner, we thought we’d provide some June Wedding fun facts.

The goddess Juno (for whom June is named) was the protector of women in all aspects of life, but especially in marriage and childbearing, so a wedding in Juno's month was considered most auspicious.

Historically June is the first month of the year when flowers are popping out and available for the bouquet and wedding decor. In addition to providing a bounty of beauty….flowers might help mask the smell of body odor…back in the day when bathing wasn’t as prevalent.

And of course, after a chilly, wet or snowy winter, June is the first month that might provide the best weather window.

The General Synod of the United Church of Christ plans to celebrate marriage equality like never before.

The ruling kicks off a major celebration at General Synod, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the UCC becoming the first mainline religious group to affirm equal marriage rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation, on July 4, 2005.
