I brought some flowers in from the garden to brighten up the butler’s desk. What a happy coincidence- their colors mimic the painted flowers on this charming French porcelain vase. Happy Friday!

Just in time for the holidays! I recently found this handsome mahogany George III butler’s desk at a local estate sale (lucky me) and it’s just been installed in our dining room. I love it’s massive size- 4 deep drawers, top one opens to a desk, with a glass front hutch on top. Still fussing with what will reside in the top hutch. China, crystal and cherished objets will probably be on constant rotation. For tomorrow’s big feast, I’ll be using the desk for wine and bubbly service. Looking forward to having family and friends gathered together again. Happy Thanksgiving dear ones!

In love with these cachepots from Mottahedeh! Bought them this morning at - one of my antique spots In Seattle! Spent the afternoon harvesting grapes from the back garden. Was going to fill the cachepots with flowers for the table tonight, but am really liking them piled high with grapes! Enjoy these last days of summer!

After a few days of clouds and much needed rain, we’re back to dining al fresco. Last night’s dinner with friends was marvelous! I set the table with a few of my favorite things- Limoges bird salad plates, English floral dinner plates, garden blooms, candles and twinkle lights. The Wedgwood Jasperware bell is a nod to my grandmother. Growing up in Colorado, I spent many childhood summers at the family cabin near Estes Park. My brother, cousins and I spent our days hiking, fishing and horseback riding. In the evening, grandma would call us back to the house by ringing a large bell that was mounted to a post on the front porch. This meant dinner was served. So last night, in memory of my grandmother, I signaled the end of cocktails and invited all to the table by ringing that little green bell I inherited from her. Enjoy these last days of summer!

Just finished setting the table for Easter dinner. This year I chose violets, one of my favorite early Spring flowers, to decorate the table. In the language of flowers, violets symbolize everlasting love, faithfulness, spiritual wisdom and remembrance. Just right for today’s celebration of hope and renewal. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter!
