When Pantone announced their color of the year for 2024, “Peach Fuzz”, they were spot on!

Our wedding clients this year can't get enough of varied shades of peach. And why should they? Peach tones are perfect for soft and romantic weddings, adding color but in a light and airy way.

A look back to the Blue Hill Fair Flower Show 2023 where 8 of our 10 micro flower farm entries earned 1st & 2nd Place Ribbons!

A total of 309 entries of Maine grown flowers were on display at the Blue Hill Fair in 2023. Thank you to Rhoda Burke for serving as the Superintendent of the Flower Show and for the many people that make this iconic country fair possible! Fans of the late E.B. White, a resident of this region, will notice many references to The Blue Hill Fair in his children's classic, Charlotte’s Web.

Butera The Florist uses a wide variety of flowers and foliage for our wedding clients from our own micro farm, from other Maine flower farms, as well as USA and sustainable flower farms in Ecuador. Hoping to enter the Flower Show again this year!

Stephanotis floribunda is an exotic tropical twining vine that produces elegant star shaped white flowers in clusters and has been popular in wedding bouquets for many years. The exquisite fragrance of each flower is reminiscent of jasmine.

Our Stephanotis plant began its succession of blooms the week before Morgan & Nick’s wedding. We were delighted to add these fragrant, stunning beauties to Morgan’s bouquet!

White is often viewed as an ordinary color. Look how exquisitely it was showcased in fresh floral artistry with Phaeleonopsis orchids, peonies, natural silk cocoons, 3D Printer sculptural accents, hand cut hanging paper formations, and Japanese handmade rice paper. We were inspired by it all at the recent AIFD Symposium in Florida!

Wonderful audience at “Art From Your Garden” yesterday during a lovely evening with the Surry Garden Club here in Maine!

All flowers were gathered from club member gardens and designed by Vincenzo Butera Aifd. Guests had the opportunity to make a donation and receive raffle tickets for the possibility of winning one of Vince’s fresh floral designs!

Winter Floral Displays Featuring Native Plants

Vincenzo Butera demonstrated sustainable structures and floral design techniques, using a variety of plant materials from the Native Gardens of Blue Hill & local landscapes including alder, juniper, white pine, bearberry, cranberry, winterberry, red twig dogwood, blueberry, native rose species, Virginia creeper, Christmas fern, and sensitive fern. Several of the designs incorporated purchased flowers as accents and focal points.

A highlight of the event... door prize drawings for each of Vince’s creations!

We are grateful to the Native Gardens of Blue Hill for organizing and hosting this community event, and for the people from the Blue Hill Peninsula, Castine, Stockton Springs, and Swan's Island who were part of the terrific audience!
