OUTSIDE MOVE: Vanada Wheels By Church For Sport Truck Win

SEEKONK, Mass. — Jake Vanada caught Darryl Church, who had led the entire Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck feature, with six laps to go on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. He tried the bottom for a lap or two, but decided it was time he take his No. 29 Everett’s Auto Parts machine to the outside lane and try to get around.

Church and Vanada raced side-by-side over the final two laps, but it was Vanada using the top groove to roll into Victory Lane for the first time this season. Vanada had a tough week one race before, but rebounded in a big way, using the outside lane, to rocket into the winner’s circle.

Church settled for second in a race where he shined for most of it. Mike Cavallaro rebounded after a few tough weeks, grabbing the third spot in the 25-lap feature. Rick Martin and Mike Duarte followed in fourth and fifth.

Tim Bolger, Lenny Guy, Amy Arsenault, DJ Thibeault and Marissa Morgan finished the top-10.

PETTEY GOES BACK-TO-BACK IN THE SPORTSMAN

SEEKONK, Mass. — A late move for the win gave Adam Pettey his second consecutive Seekonk Speedway win on Saturday night in the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman. Petty charged through the pack from deep in the field and in the final laps, found his way around Randy Moretti to score the feature win. After a tough first week, Pettey has rebounded with tons of winning speed.

Moretti settled for second, hoping for one spot better after leading many laps. They were followed two the line by early race leader Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia, who came out with a strong finish in third. Behind them, Scott Serydynski Jr and Ed Perry finished the top-five after 25 laps.

Colby Lambert, Joe Kohler, Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Josh Hedges and Nick Brightman finished in the top-10.

BOBBY PELLAND STARTS EFFORT FOR TRIPLE CROWN REPEAT WITH PRO STOCK WIN

SEEKONK, Mass. — Last year, Bobby Pelland III captured the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown title in the Pro Stocks. This year, he started off his quest to defend that crown on the right foot. Pelland took the lead from Mike Brightman in the middle of the race and then drove away from his contenders to take his first win of the season in the 60-lap event.

Pelland started in the middle of the pack, but it didn’t take him long to charge to the front. In a race that was filled with cautions throughout, Pelland took the lead, but then had to hold off a few challengers on restarts. He wasn’t to be denied.

Vinnie Arrenegado continued his Pro Stock Rookie of the Year quest with a third consecutive finish on the podium to open the season. He even pitted during the race this time and charged back through to finish second. He was followed by Dylan Estrella, who won the week before, finishing in third. Mark Jenison and Jeramee Lillie followed to finish the top-five after 60 laps.

Mike Rotondo, Dick Benoit, Chris Gomes, Kenny Spencer and Rick Martin finished the top-10.

LEBRUN WHEELS TO THE FRONT, WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE

SEEKONK, Mass. — With three races in the books in 2024, the Seekonk Speedway Late Models are again shining. Saturday night, their 30-lap feature went right down to the wire once again. After the checkered flag went in the air, it was former Seekonk Legends Cars champion Luke Lebrun celebrating another NASCAR Saturday Late Model win.

Lebrun and Charlie Rose dueled for the top spot over the final 10 laps of the race, with Lebrun coming out on top - but not by much. It was the first win of the season for the driver of the No. 27 after a race that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Rose would settle for second, with former champion Mark Jenison sneaking onto the podium late, coming home in third. Rookie of the Year contender Andrew Gomes, a former Fast Friday Bandolero driver, finished fourth in just his third career Late Model start. He was followed by Jacob “Rowdy” Burns across the line in fifth at the finish.

Connor Souza, Brittany Campbell, Tyler Lallier, Mike Brightman and Bobby Pelland rounded out the top-10. The Late Models will be back on track on Saturday, June 22, for round two of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks and Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will also be on track Friday. Like the Sport 4s, both of these divisions have seen three different winners in three weeks. Some names to watch to continue the trend in the Pure Stocks include Ethan Souza, Bobby Bettencourt III and Greg Perry, among others. In the Legends Cars, look for names like Mason Tessier, Chase Silvia, Josh Parsons, Rodney Dowless and others to contend.

Fast Friday racing this week includes Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series openers for the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, Outlaws and Sport 4s. The Bandolero divisions run their normal 15-lap distance, while the Sport 4 class will go for 30 laps. In both the Bandits and the Outlaws, the track has welcomed multiple new winners this season - including names like David Bernier, Mason Silva, Luka Dib, Mike Hanafin and Brody Wakefield. In the Sport 4s, with three different winners in three weeks, there are still plenty of options out there for someone to make it four, hoping to join Matt Pion, Crystal Murray and Tyler Duhancik.
