Seguin, We Need Your Help!

On January 2, 2025, the Seguin Police Department responded to a call regarding criminal mischief in the 200 block of N. River St. It was discovered that the beloved "Wendy the Squirrel" statue, located in front of City Hall, had been vandalized.

This statue was dedicated to the late Wendy Parker, a cherished member of our community, and was unveiled less than two months ago. It’s heartbreaking to see this symbol of community love and remembrance damaged.

Below is a photo captured by one of the few surveillance cameras in the area. If you recognize the individuals or have any information, please contact the Seguin Police Department at 830-379-2123.

Happy Friday, Team Seguin. We are happy to announce that Justin Hajek, Seguin Events Complex Superintendent, has been chosen as the Employee of the Month for October!

Justin consistently goes above and beyond to provide support to his department in whatever way is needed - whether it's coming in early, staying late, or working well over a 40-hour work week to support the growing number of reservations at our facilities/parks for events and programs. Justin is a positive and inspiring leader who goes the extra mile for his team. When short staffed this fall, he worked events at the Rodeo Arena on weekends to give his team members time off. With a can-do attitude, Justin displays his commitment to Team Seguin, our community and citizens by providing effective customer service to ensure a quality experience.

Justin is pictured below surrounded by his team after receiving his award from City Manager Steve Parker.

CONGRATULATIONS to Justin on this well-deserved recognition!

To all the wonderful people who will be attending our upcoming fireworks show, we would like to help you exit the show in a much faster manner.

First if you are watching from the Coliseum parking lot, you will need to exit to the north. You can take any of the north bound streets from Boenig to South Guadalupe. While South Austin will be open to go north, the more people that can use the other northbound streets, the faster traffic will be able to clear out. There will be hard barricades to prevent traffic from turning south from the Coliseum parking lot.

Second if you park in Max Starcke Park, you will have two ways to exit the park. First, the normal roadway exit on River Drive East will available for those that park either on the access road to the park or in the east side of the park. When you reach the park exit on the East side of the park, you will only be able to go South on South Austin. Second, we will have the rear entrance to the park through Boenig will be open. This will be the only way out for those that are parked in the west side of the park beyond the entrance gates. Once you reach the intersection of Boenig and Nelda, you will be able use any of the north bound streets just like above. This is a big change but this will again allow the traffic to clear out much faster.

You are encouraged to carpool with others to the fireworks show. This will help lessen the traffic impact.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the show. We have a great show slated for you again this year.
