Our Story
Sal started his first restaurant in 1942 as a way to provide more opportunities for his family. That first taco shack was built out of wood bought from a neighbor, and its menu contained classic dishes Sal's wife made. Today, his family's carrying on his legacy, still providing for themselves, their employees, and future generations. The menu still consists of authentic Mexican dishes, and the hospitality's as warm as Sal's was, only we're no longer serving tacos out of a shack. Today, we're three locations strong, with three generations of our family running our business. There's a lot of pride, a lot of history, and a lot of love that goes into what we do, and we're happy to share it with every guest and every dish.
We are proud to be a family owned and acknowledged as Best Mexican Restaurant from the 2015 and 2017 Best of the Valley. We operate three Mexican Restaurants the Original in Selma, Fresno and Madera.
Our Traditional Family recipes that has made Sal's the Valley’s Family Tradition since 1942. At our clean locations, our staff will offer you good service, and then share with you good food portions at a reasonable price.
The menu features classic favorites as our popular Fancy Burrito, Short Ribs, Homemade Tamales and Sal’s favorite “The Combo”. These Classic favorites along with modern adaptations to a culinary tradition have made Sal's the most awarded Central Valley Mexican Restaurant for more than 77 years .
For Home or Office parties, we offer Off site Buffet Catering services (we can set up or you can pick up).
We also are known as your last minute party specialist. Give us a call for to-go items that can include Enchilada or Chili Verde Casseroles, Variety Trays, Homemade Tamales and our award winning Salsa.
