There is a show at the Owen Theatre this Saturday. We invite you to come to town a little early and check out our community. We have a great coffee shop, Old Depot Coffee Co. that will make up about any coffee-based drink you might desire. They close at 6:00 in the evening so you would need to get there before then.

Several restaurants in town so you can most likely find somthing you will like. Hucklebucks (BBQ), Twin Dragon, Rusty Spur, el Patron, plus the usual suspects, McD's, Subway, Taco Bell, Casey's.

On the north side of the downtown square, directly opposite our theatre on the south side is Axeheadbeverageco. A family-friendly brewery. They have several beers on tap, Meade, and soft drinks and a few snacks. They also have books to read and games to play. They are great with you picking up a pizza, pulled pork, or a burger and stopping in to eat and enjoy a drink. Come to town early and check them out.

We are about to begin our 2025 season. We will kick it off with The ABLeS, a group of very talented musicians. They have appeared on our stage a few times before but everyone always wants us to bring them back so here they are.

12/19/2024

We will not have any events during the month of January. We are busy however, lining up shows for the 2025 Season. Right now we have several shows and acts booked for the first few months of the year.

We will kick off the season with The ABLeS on February 1st. They have played here a few times, both on The Owen stage as well as at Apple Festival. They always put on a great show. They also have a local tie to our community, with Mr. Jarvis being a graduate of SHS.

A couple of weeks later in February, Saturday the 15th we will welcome Johnny Mace and The County Line Band. They played to a large crowd midway through our 2024 season and everyone enjoyed them and made it a point to let us know they would like us to get them back. So, we try to please.....

March 1st we will host Kyle Rummens to the stage. Kyle has played a few of the festivals in the area and we are anxious to give him an opportunity to play The Owen.

On the 15th of March we will hold our second Family Feud game show. We held a game night a couple of months back and everyone had a blast. We had promised that if it went well we would do it again. Well, it did go great so we are doing it again.

On Saturday, March 29th the The Honkytonk Renovators will make their second appearance at The Owen. If you like straight up country music performed by some great musicians you will not want to miss this show.

The first Saturday in April, the 5th we will hold another Youth Talent show. These events are always a great evening of fun. It allows youth to perform in front of friends and family on a regular, authentic, for real stage. More details we be posted as they get worked through.

On Friday, April 18th which happens to be Good Friday we are bringing in Shine, a bluegrass gospel group from the area. We are looking forward to this as it will be a new thing for us.

Then in May, on Saturday the 3rd we will bring back Isaac Kenneth and Chelsey James for a Country and Christian music variety show. This will be similar in format to the Christmas show on December 14th.

Finally, on Saturday, May 17th local musician Dave Perryman and his band will bring their show to the stage. Dave has played at a lot of places and venues all through the area. This time, we will ask him to perform on our stage.

That is what we have for the first few months. Those dates and acts are as firm as something can be that far out but we believe those will hold. We may add a few more if we can and we are still looking through the remainder of the 2025 season. Keep checking and touching base.

12/19/2024

A reminder that the tickets for the 2025 season are on sale now. If you purchase before the end of the year the price will be $100. After the new year begins it will be $125. Season ticket holders will get into all of the Arts Council events. We typically have 20 events or so making the Hundred Bucks a bargain.

If you are interested, the tickets are currently on sale at the Webster County Citizen office on the square.

We would like to thank our friends and supporters and patrons for a great year. Our shows were well attended and most all of the comments shared during and after the shows were positive. You let us know what you liked and what you did not like which makes it easier for us to know what types of shows and who you might like us to bring back. We always appreciate your comments.

We take a break from now until February when we kick off our 2025 season. Here is wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Well our final show of the 2024 season was a great success. We had a great crowd and the artists were amazing. Everyone we talked to during and after the show were singing praises about the show. Isaac has been at The Owen several times starting back in 2017. Chelsey had been there with Members Only and their guests were new to our stage. All of them did a great job. We took several photos and videos and are in the process of editing and will post several over the next day or two. This one will give you and idea of what it was like. Cell phone video so the sound and picture quality are not the best but will at least leave you wanting more.....

12/10/2024

We are closing out our 2024 season with the final show this Saturday, December 14th. Isaac Kenneth and Chelsey James will host a show that will be similar to The Grand Old Opry. They will perform some music and will bring on some musical guests.

Isaac and Chelsey are well known in our community and area. They both play a lot of different places but we think they have a soft spot for our community and our theatre. Isaac has played The Owen a few times and Chelsey rocked the place when Members Only took the stage. We are looking forward to seeing them and their musical guests.

As they describe the show it will be something different for us. A talk show with lots of music.

We hope you come out to join us. The doors will open at 6:00 PM and the show will commence at 7:00. We recommend you arriving fairly early since we expect a good crowd. We can seat about 150 folks and we are wanting to pack the house.

Admission is $10. We will have concessions available.

We would like to thank everyone who came out for one or more of our movies Saturday. We had pretty good attendance, the best of any movie event we have held. We believe everyone had a good time. It works well when the community has several events that bring folks into town. For the movies, it provided a place to relax for a couple of hours from the shopping and food trucks and such. We appreciate you.

12/07/2024

We would like to remind you that The Owen is showing Christmas movies from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Admission is free so stop in for a movie before the parade.

12/07/2024

We hope everybody comes to town sometime during the day of Saturday, December 7th. The Owen Theatre will have free movies from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Several of the local churches will have an open house. There will be vendors on the square as well as food trucks. Check out a local cafe or one of those food trucks. Grab a cup of coffee at Old Depot Coffee Co. Stop in at Axeheadbeverageco for a local brew or other adult beverage. Note this is a family friendly place and has soft drinks and snacks. They welcome folks to bring in outside food and enjoy a board game or two while waiting for the parade to start. The YEP group will have ham and beans available for a donation. Store fronts are decorated for your enjoyment. The town’s Christmas tree lighting will happen in the evening. The parade will start at 5:30 PM. Music in the Gazebo.

All in all it will be a great day to enjoy an Ozark community‘s holiday celebration. Small Town America at its best. You all are invited tocome share it with us.

12/07/2024

Tomorrow will e a busy day for The Owen. Beginning at 10:00 AM we will kick off our free Christmas movies day. We have been doing this for a few years now and it is fun.Years ago, Harold Owen would show some free movies the day of the parade and it was a big deal for a lot of the kids in the community. We stillthink it makes for a fun day.

Come join us for one movie or all four. No charge for admission and we will have typical theater concessions available.

The Arts Council's presentation of Seymour's Family Feud was a success and a lot of fun. There was a good crowd, the competitors were great, and the game was good. It went well so we will do it again.

We held rehearsals four nights in a row, making for long days. A whole lot of work goes on in the background. The Owen staff stood in as players during the rehearsals. Those in the support roles are the ground troops, taking money, popping corn, taking care of the concessions, and interacting with the audience. The Arts Council is made up of volunteers and we do this for many reasons. We hope to improve life in our hometown area. We promote local musicians by bringing them to the stage. We do the movies during the year. We support Summit of the Ozarks theater group. We make the venue available to other groups and organizations. We do game shows and talent contests and more. And we appreciate our community coming out to support our efforts with their attendance, sponsorships, and for contributing ideas and suggestions for us to consider.

We are all volunteers and we volunteer for many reasons but one of the main reasons is we enjoy being a part of something bigger than ourselves.....our community that we call home.

What a turnout we had last night for our first ever Family Feud game show! Our pals from Marshfield, the Atkison family, walked away with $500!

I, Shyann, would like to brag on my fellow “young ones” as the Arts Council calls us. I inherited the gift of gab early on & might be the mouth of production but Hayely Piatt is definitely the brain! Hayely engineered this entire game show. From coding to marketing materials- she’s the mastermind.

I think Hayely would agree when I say the men in our lives are a couple of the best. Colin Piatt, our MC for the evening, & Darren Hume, our moderator, made sure to keep things rolling. These men put in more BTS time & labor than most know!

We couldn’t have done this without all of YOU! Thank you to each of you who showed up, showed interest, & we can’t wait to do it again in the spring!

We are up and running and pursuing our mission......We hope to be known as Seymour’s Historic Owen Theatre and we are located on the South side of the Downtown Seymour, Missouri square. We are an intimate venue of about a 150 person capacity and our mission is to bring a wide variety and eclectic mix of musical genres and entertainment to the Greater Seymour area and community. We have had nationally as well as internationally well-known entertainers perform on our stage BUT we also hope to bring that very wide variety of entertainment featuring all genres of music and different performance talent to our community theatre, to our community, and to the entire Southwest Missouri Ozark’s area.
