The Arts Council's presentation of Seymour's Family Feud was a success and a lot of fun. There was a good crowd, the competitors were great, and the game was good. It went well so we will do it again.

We held rehearsals four nights in a row, making for long days. A whole lot of work goes on in the background. The Owen staff stood in as players during the rehearsals. Those in the support roles are the ground troops, taking money, popping corn, taking care of the concessions, and interacting with the audience. The Arts Council is made up of volunteers and we do this for many reasons. We hope to improve life in our hometown area. We promote local musicians by bringing them to the stage. We do the movies during the year. We support Summit of the Ozarks theater group. We make the venue available to other groups and organizations. We do game shows and talent contests and more. And we appreciate our community coming out to support our efforts with their attendance, sponsorships, and for contributing ideas and suggestions for us to consider.

We are all volunteers and we volunteer for many reasons but one of the main reasons is we enjoy being a part of something bigger than ourselves.....our community that we call home.

What a turnout we had last night for our first ever Family Feud game show! Our pals from Marshfield, the Atkison family walked away with $500!

I, Shyann, would like to brag on my fellow “young ones” as the Arts Council calls us. I inherited the gift of gab early on & might be the mouth of production but Hayely Piatt is definitely the brain! Hayely engineered this entire game show. From coding to marketing materials- she’s the mastermind.

I think Hayely would agree when I say the men in our lives are a couple of the best. Colin Piatt, our MC for the evening, & Darren Hume, our moderator, made sure to keep things rolling. These men put in more BTS time & labor than most know!

We couldn’t have done this without all of YOU! Thank you to each of you who showed up, showed interest, & we can’t wait to do it again in the spring!

If you are planning on coming out to the Owen Theatre for tonight's Family Feud, we invite you to come to town earlier to extend your evening out and to enjoy what we have available.

Come early for supper at one of our restaurants. There are the fast food offerings and some local places as well. Mexican cuisine, Chinese food, diner food, Casey's offerings, Subway, and others. Additionally, tonight there will also be a food truck set up behind Axeheadbeverageco.

You can make it an evening.... come early and grab a coffee at Old Depot. Check out a restaurant. Stop by the family-friendly local brewery. Run out back and see what the food truck has to offer. you can take it into Axehead and enjoy it with a beer or a soft drink.

So, this evening in Seymour can offer more than an excellent game show at The Owen. Come check us out.

Tonight is the night of Seymour's own version of Family Feud. The Seymour Area Arts Council has been hard at work to bring this evening's entertainment. The graphics are ready, the Staff members have rehearsed their roles, and the rest of us will be there to do what may be needed.

We had a lot of teams to choose from so we selected the four for tonight. Lots of interest and if all goes well, the other teams will get an opportunity for our next game. The show will start at 7:00 PM with the doors opening at 6:00. We suggest you get there in time to find a seat and get your popcorn and concessions. Our last game show was a packed house. Admission price is $10.

Regarding the teams for the Family Feud night, you will be notified this evening, Monday the 4th. If your team was not selected, keep in mind that it is quite likely we will have another Seymour’s version of Family Feud night. Even if your team is not ones chosen for the kickoff we hope you will still choose to spend the evening with us. We are certain it will be a fun way to prepare for any future game nights.

We hope everyone is getting prepared for a great Saturday evening on November 9th when the Seymour Area Arts Council will bring Seymour's version of Family Feud to The Owen Theatre. There is a lot of work that goes in to bringing a game show to the stage. This time there will be several teams involved and a lot of folks in the action. We have had a lot of interest in people making up teams and we will have to whittle the number down a bit. That being said, if it is a success (which we believe it will be) we will do it again. Come out an join us. It will be a blast and unlike anything Seymour has seen before. Show will begin at 7:00 PM and the doors will open at 6:00.

We hope everyone is planning to attend our first ever "Seymour's Family Feud" It will be a blast. This will be the very best way you could spend your Saturday evening on November 9th, 2024. It will be our version of the Family Feud game show and will be hosted by one of our own. Surveys have been sent out and made available so there truly will be a "Survey Says:" moment. The deadline for teams to enter is approaching so keep that in mind. As of now, there has been a lot of interest in making a team...
Our last game show, Deal or No Deal pretty much packed the house with Seymour area folks and we expect this to do pretty much the same. There has already been a lot of interest shown for the Family Feud evening and if all goes as we expect we may well play it again. The Seymour Area Arts Council will be rehearsing and setting the final pieces into place in the next several days and making preparations to bring a great evening of fun to our neighbors, friends, and supporters. We are definitely looking forward to it.

As promised, another sample of some music performed at The Owen. This is Johnny Mace and The County Line Band. They performed a lot of country standards as well as some rockabilly or crossover rock. They put on a great show and the audience had a lot of positive comments. Another fun evening at The Owen.

Sorry that posts from this writer have not happened for a while. Had an internet problem. Took forever to get it sorted out. Seems my modem/router had lost its "identity".... Reminded me of myself back in the 1070's. At any rate, we are back up and running and we even got credited for the three weeks or so off line.

The Owen has been busy since our Apple Festival break. Had several shows and each one was enjoyable and pretty well attended. Johnny Mace and the County Line Band were a blast with some straight up country. Dan Conklin (solo) was a unique take on some Red Dirt style. This past weekend we hosted Wise Guys, a band that is pretty familiar to Seymour having played the Owen a couple of times as well as bringing their music to the Apple Festival.

And we will continue to be busy. . . . . .

First up in November 9th, will be Seymour's version of Family Feud. The interest and excitement about this has been huge. Stay tuned for more news. It will be a whole lot of fun.

Nest will be trio with Dan Conklin. Dan was great last time and if his friends are as talented, it will be a awesome time. That will take place on November 16th.

On November 23rd, we will present some movies (TBD).

Sometime in November the Summit of the Ozarks Theatre group will bring their version of The Christmas Carol. Always a great time.

Has your family ever watched Family Feud and said, “We would be great at that!” Well, here’s your chance to play! The Seymour Area Arts Council currently is soliciting teams for its Nov. 9 version of SEYMOUR FAMILY FEUD held at the Owen Theatre. The winning team can earn $500 in cold cash!

If you have a five-person team, family members or not, let us know. We will be selecting at least four teams from this solicitation. To put your team on the list to be picked, simply respond to this post, send a PM via Messenger or contact Shyann Hume at The Blonde Brand or Dan Wehmer at the Webster County Citizen, both located in Seymour.

We would like to thank everyone who came to The Owen Saturday evening. It was a blast. A good crowd and a great band. If you did not make it, check out some of their music on their website and YouTube. And here is a sample taken with an i-Pad propped against a salt shaker.

And yet another great evening of entertainment. We had a really good crowd at The Owen last night. The not strictly bluegrass, more like pshycograss group, Hogmolly gave us a solid couple of hours of some great music. Bo Brown, Matt, and Jeff were fun and very entertaining. Bo has been around the local music scene for years and has played with several area bands. At our very first show, our grand opening with Mark and Cindy of the Creek Rocks, Bo was there and he came up and we talked for quite a while about the theatre and what we were hoping to accomplish. Bo has been a supporter from the start and we appreciate it. We believe that anyone present last night will agree that it was well worth the price of admission. Truly for the evening, The Fourth was with us. A sample of a couple of songs strung together. The backstory is very funny.

We had an entertaining show last night. We had a new group performing. They were a little different than most of the artists we have hosted but they put on a great show, enjoyable, and entertaining. We hosted Creek Stink and the Stinkettes. Most all the songs were written by Eric Bogwalker, their front man. Plays drums, guitar, harp, and sings. All at once. There were several intersting stories about the inspiration for the songs. It was truly down-home music, straight for Ozark County on the Arkansas line. Here is a sample taken with a cell phone (to explain the shaky video and the less-than-stellar sound quality). Again, a fun evening.

Great show tonight. The band was spot on and the crowd was definitely into it. Here is a sample of straight-up country done up right.

Spent an enjoyable evening listening to some great music by the ABLeS. A talented group and they put on a great show. Their harmonies are really good.
