We know, kind of a long post but also we believe very informative and important. . . . .

This Saturday, December 6th will be another opportunity for our community to do some "shining". First off, Seymour's Historic Owen Theatre will be presenting some FREE movies. This is a tradition started by Harold Owen back in the 1960's and we are trying to carry it forward. We will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until about 3:00 PM or so. Note that the times are approximate due to slight variations in start and stop times. You can come to one or all of the showings. Again, the admission is free and we have typical movie concessions available.

This will also be the Seymour Community's Hallmark Christmas event. There will be food trucks, different vendors, and community organizations set up around the downtown square. We encourage you to visit the vendors and food trucks but also to check out some of our hometown places and organizations as well. If a coffee-based drink strikes your fancy you should visit Old Depot Coffee Co. right off the northwest corner of the downtown square. Perhaps you might like a family friendly place to get a soft drink or a local brew (or mead), you should check out Axeheadbeverageco which is due north of the Owen Theatre on the north side of the square just a couple of buildings east from City Hall. Additionally, if the food truck fare is not what your taste buds are craving, a short distance from the square you have the option of some great BBQ, a couple of Mexican cuisine establishments, a place that specializes in Chinese meals, and the normal and usual franchise places, i.e. Subway, Casey's, Taco Bell, and McDonalds. Each of these establishments will appreciate your patronage. Remember, that is in addition to the locally-owned Hucklebuck's, Twin Dragon, El Pariso, and El Patron's. A NOTE that if you come early in the day or afternoon, you may well have the time, the appetite, and the opportunity to check out the food trucks and vendors who will be stationed around the square....you can "do it up right".

Your day can finish up with a Christmas Tree lighting at the Jimmy Crisp downtown square Memorial park and our night-time (in the dark) Christmas parade that will emphasize the Hallmark Christmas theme and local community floats that will embody it. It is also unique since it will be dark and most (really all) of the floats will feature different amounts and variation of Christmas lighting.

To see for yourselves, come out to downtown Seymour this Saturday, December 6th for several events and vendors that are family oriented, local, enjoyable, and finish it off with a very pretty night-time, Christmas-themed parade.

We truly hope you will join us for what can be a magical evening.

Be sure and come out to the special Christmas variety show brought to you by Isaac and Chelsey and friends. This will be an evening of entertainment you do now want to miss. Last year's show was a blast and if you come out Saturday, December 13th, we are sure you will not be disappointed. The admission charge is $10 and that will be a bargain for a great show. Come join us.

A reminder that Seymour's Historic Owen Theatre will be presenting free movies Saturday, December 6th. We will start at 10:00 AM and the final show will wrap up around 3:00 PM or so.

This is also a big day for the community since it will be the Hallmark Christmas event and the parade that evening. There will be food trucks and some vendors around during the day and check those out but remember to stop in for a free movie or two or all five (note some of these are shorter films). The theatre will have full concessions available. Remember, there is not an admission charge so we welcome everyone out. Enjoy the entire day in Seymour.

Another reminder that the show scheduled for this Saturday, November 15th has been canceled. We will get them back on the schedule for sometime next year.

The Summit of the Ozarks theater group will be presenting plays next weekend and we hope you will check them out. Next up for us will be movies on December 6th, the day of the Christmas parade.

11/12/2025

We have to announce that our scheduled show for this Saturday, November 15th has been canceled due to illness. We will reschedule Anna for sometime in 2026 and we are sorry for this delay.

Next week the Summit of the Ozarks Theater Group will take over the Owen Theatre for a week of set building, rehearsals, and play presentations. They always do a fantastic job at all of it and we encourage you to come to town and take in a stage play. They will be providing us with more information so watch this page. Also, we believe they will post some information in the marquis box at the front of The Owen Theatre.

After Thanksgiving, The Owen will bring movies to be presented the first Satuday of December, the same day as the Christmas Parade. We will be showing family-friendly movies throughout the day before the parade that evening.

We hope the cancelation does not negatively impact your plans. We invite and encourage you to support your local community theater group. Come to town and join us for some community doings, movies, and a parade on December 6th.

This is always one of our favorite shows. Molly's talent is fully on display. And, we are truly tickled that she chose to have a video made while here. We absolutely appreciate it. We miight be a bit biased but we believe our little venue allows the artist to truly shine.

Molly performs her original song, Voices, for the Historic Owen Theater concert series. Vidoegraphy by Tim Schirman.

A final reminder to come out to The Owen Theatre this evening and catch a local, young artist on our stage for the first time. We have visited his website and listened to a few songs and we believe you will enjoy this evening of music. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show begins at 7:00. Admission is $10.

11/07/2025

Owen friends, taking another opportunity to remind you that local artist Logan Lee Williams will be making his first appearance on our stage. This young man hails from our neigboring town of Fordland so we hope a lot of folks from his area make their way the short 10 - 12 miles on east to see Logan in a venue with a great sound system, a pro sound guy, and a building with natural sonic qualities.

The doors will open at 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 8th with the show beginning at 7:00. Come on out. We have popcorn, soft drinks, water, and candy at the concession stand. Hope to see a lot of Seymour and Fordland folks make their way to The Owen.
