The Arts Council has started their brief summer break. We generally slow down the shows at The Owen during June and July although we usually manage to work a show in during that time. We thought we would provide a list of upcoming events for the second half of the season..... A longish post but lots of info.

June 21st will mark the return of our art shows for local artists. Details will follow and also appear in the Citizen.

July 26th we will bring the group Wise Guys back. A guaranteed fun time.

August 9th we will welcome Joshua Michael and the Dirt Road Saints to our stage for the first time. We are looking forward to this.

On Friday, August 16th the Abundant Quartet will bring an evening of Gospel music. There is no admission for this show but you will be given a chance to contribute to a Love Offering.

We are working on August 23rd with a couple of groups checking schedules. We will post as soon as we firm things up.

September 20th is the tentative date for the youth talent show we had to postpone. Again, watch for further info.

On September 27th we currently have Molly Healey for an evening of magic. This date may be subject to change because Molly is committed to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils during their final year so we will definitely keep you posted.

October 11th the trio One More Dollar will take the stage. Their harmonies and musicianship is amazing and their Ozarkana take on music is a blast.

On October 25th, Mark and Cindy of The Creek Rocks will return after a few years away. They are busy all around the Missouri and Arkansas Ozarks, SDC, and they are doing a lot of work out East with some special places. They will talk about their work some that evening.

November 8th will be the Owen debut of Logan Williams. The week of November 17-22, our local Summit of the Ozarks Theater group will have the theater for another one of their sure to be excellent live productions. If you have not been, you need to check out one of their shows. The kids (and adults) do a great job.

Saturday, December 6th, the day of the community Christmas parade we will once again present some movies during the day. Admission is free and is a great opportunity for some old-fashion, family fun.

Then wrapping up our season on Saturday, December 13th Isaac Kenneth and Chelsey James will bring us another Christmas themed variety show. This will be similar to last year's with some musical guests and perhaps a bit of comedy.

As stated, keep watching this page, the pages of the Citizen, and the marquee at the front of the Owen Theatre for the latest updates.

Sure many of you have seen that Larry Lee, one of the original Ozark Mountain Daredevils has passed. We are happy that we were able to host Larry and his friends, Emily Higgins and David Wilson. They played a few times as HigLeeWills and it was always a blast. Their songwriting chops were amazing and they were able to blend their three voices into beautiful hamonies. One of the songs that was guaranteed to bring down the house was when they would perform Larry's song Jackie Blue.

The second time they took the stage they had the stage set up to bring the vibe that they were playing in a living room. End table and a lamp, and a rug on the floor. What I was told was our stage might be a little too "boomy" for the fantastic single microphone they were using so Larry brought the rug. After the show, he said our stage was still a bit boomy and he gifted us the rug. It is still on the stage and is there for almost every one of our music stores. Along with him living a half-mile from my dad's home place, it is another reminder of our chance to listen and enjoy someone we believe is a national treasure.

RIP Larry Lee.........

Coming up this weekend. Dave Perryman and the Country Review will bring their show to the Owen stage. Dave and company have played all over the Ozarks and do covers of various country artists. They rented the Owen a year or so back and it was very successful so we decided to book them to do a show for us. They do a great show and are highly recommended for an evening of straight-up country music. Make plans to join us Saturday, May 17th for an evening of entertainment. The doors will open at 6:00 PM, tickets are $10, and we have concessions available.

A final reminder that Isaac and Chelsey will be performing at The Owen Theatre tonight. They will be accompanied by some musician friends so it will be an evening of good times and great music. It will be similar in format to the Christmas show they did back in December.

The doors to the theatre will open at 6:00 PM. Admission is $10. We will have concessions available and we have even added hotdogs to the menu.

Come out and spend a great evening with us.
