Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Shady Valley Festival of Quilts on April 11 & 12, 2025. If you want to enter a quilt in the competition, please go to the Shady Valley Festival of Quilts page and download the entry form and follow the instructions. Deadlines apply.

We are excited and fortunate to have AQS Certified Appraiser Vickie Coleman of Bluegrass Quilt Appraisal, LLC, Lexington, Kentucky. Ms. Coleman's accomplishments include, but are not limited to an Undergraduate degree in Textile and Clothing at the University of Tennessee, Graduate Assistant in Textile Testing Laboratory and Adjunct Instructor of History of Costume and Textile Chemistry at the University of Kentucky. Ms. Coleman was also invited to be an Official Appraiser of Quilt Week at the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, Kentucky for 2023 and 2024.
Ms. Coleman will be at the Bed Turning each day to give us her incredible wealth of knowledge about the heirloom quilts brought in by our Quilt show attendees. If you would like to be part of Bed Turning this year, simply complete an entry form and bring your quilt(s) on the day you wish to attend the Quilt Show.
Ms Coleman will also have her personal exhibit called, "Fancy and Frugal:Quilts of the Great Depression" on display during the SVFOQ show. A must-see exhibit and will be sharing her knowledge about the exhibit. Finally,Ms. Coleman will be doing quilt appraisals by appointment. If you wish to have you quilts appraised, please call Tammy Love at (407)575-7703 to schedule your appointment. We look forward to Ms. Coleman's Exhibit and to seeing everyone at the Shady Valley Festival of Quilts!!!

Thank you so much for a wonderful turn out for our Christmas Extravaganza Fundraiser. The pictures do not do it justice!!!
Each classroom was decorated with a unique theme! Thank you to each and every volunteer, decorator, and cooks!!! We have a wonderful group of people working hard to keep this school building open and operational!!

Make sure to come out today for the LAST DAY of our Christmas Extravaganza from 12-4:30. This is what we chose to do this year instead of the Tour of Homes in the past. Our community took rooms and transformed them into a beautiful building to tour. This is a fundraiser so the price is $10 for adults and $5 for kids at the door. The lunch today for sale is baked potatoes and chili. You can just come to eat if you don’t want to do the rest with no fee paid at the door. If you have been already this weekend, you can come back and go through again at no charge. Happy holidays to you all!

The Shady Rock School would like to invite you to our Christmas Extravaganza this Friday through Sunday. Our volunteers and community have worked so hard to turn our building into a beautiful showcase for a Shady Valley Christmas! The classrooms have been transformed into works of beauty and happiness for all to see. Take a walk through Winter Wonderland. Who wouldn’t love to see Mrs. Claus’ Closet? Candy Land is always a beautiful thing to see. There’s nothing like being Home for Christmas. Let’s not forgot O Holy Night and what it means. Let your kids search for the elves that are hidden. Make sure you walk through and admire the many beautiful trees that are decorated. On Friday and Saturday, you can find the one and only Santa Claus so you can tell him what you want for Christmas under the tree. Take tons and tons of pictures for memories and Christmas cards. This is a fundraiser event for the Rock School. The admission at the door is $10 per adult and $5 per child each day. There will be vendors set up for you to do Christmas shopping and food available to purchase as well, so come hungry. Please make plans to join us one of the three days. Times are as follows:
Friday, Dec. 13th——4:30pm -8:00pm
Saturday, Dec. 14th—11:00am-5:00pm
Sunday, Dec 15th—- 12:00pm-4:30pm

Memorial ornaments are a beautiful way to remember the life of a loved one and keep their memory strong through the holidays. If you’d like to display an ornament for someone who has passed, come to the Forest of Christmas Trees at Shady Rock School Dec. 13-15. Bonnie Ryan will have trees and supplies to create the ornament for your loved ones.
