MUSICIANS
Keith Taylor, of Haines, Ore., began playing Ragtime in 1972. With a background in classical music, he has degrees in composition and piano & studied in Paris with Rene Leibowitz. The native Oregonian, returned to Azalea, OR. in 1978, moved to Haines in 2005, where he works as a freelance pianist, composer. Teaches at Blue Mountain Community College. Keith composes silent movie music for Hollywood’s Attic and performs regularly on the West Coast. He has created music festivals and music organizations. Vicki Cox, of Eugene, currently plays trumpet with the Yachats Big Band and the Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble. She also occasionally plays cornet with Leo’s Jammers Jazz Band in Eugene and The Retreads Jazz Band in Florence. Her own group, Calamity Jazz Band, has been a strong representative of Traditional Jazz for many years throughout the west coast.

Tim Prendergast
Tim conducted middle school bands for 26 years before retiring. He conducts the New Horizons Band in Eugene, and recently retired from directing the One More Time Band. He plays trombone in Leo’s Jammers a trad jazz band in Eugene. Tim gets his exercise pulling weeds and the occasional squash out of his garden.

Meg Graf, assisting all, plays a variety of musical instruments. This talented musician is from Eugene, Oregon and performs with Calamity Jazz, other music events and ensembles. Meg likes all styles of music, but ragtime is particularly close to her heart.

You don't want to miss, Patty George, also from the Willamette Valley, has been performing since childhood. Her father, Pat George supported his family with his professional piano playing talent. Patty began playing and singing as a toddler and has continued, throughout the Pacific northwest. Her vocal skills can be described as powerful and passionate as she enjoys Dixieland and the standards of the 40’s and 50’s and will be a crowd favorite at Ragtime!

Also new this year, Larry Burnett of Springfield, Oregon started playing the trombone in high school and for 40 plus years has been and professionally played in Dixie Land Jazz festivals all over the country with the band called, The Federal Jazz Commission. He has been playing the string bass in country music gatherings locally as well.

lets try again! New Performers to our event is banjo player, Hank Dougherty from Independence, Oregon. He took up banjo 29 years ago and plays in two jazz bands. Hank has played in festivals across the U.S. from the west to St. Louis, Alaska, and Mexico. Played even for a president.

Well, the Ragtime event will not officially happen. However, three musicians will be at the Imperial River Company in Maupin, OR. gathering around the lobby grand piano for two days, October 2-3, 2020. Beginning at 2 pm Friday the 2nd. Hope to be back full swing in 2021.
