Shawano Folk Music Festival

Shawano Folk Music Festival One of the best small folk music festivals in the Midwest. Since 1979, the Shawano Folk Music Festival is a weekend full of music and friends. See you there!

Always the 2nd weekend in August. Two evening concerts, in the air-conditioned Mielke Arts Center, and two full days of outdoor programs on multiple outdoor stages under the trees of Mielke Park. We define "folk music" very broadly - exciting, diverse, eclectic mix - old, new, traditional, contemporary, music, dance, arts, on-the-edge-of-folk. It's a weekend for the entire family. We go on rain or shine, finding a way to make it work. Come sing, dance and play with us.

Our Story

The Shawano Folk Music Festival is a family weekend with an eclectic mix of music, dance and activities. Fine artists and crafters line the park paths, and there is a full program for children. Friday and Saturday evening concerts are held inside air conditioned Mielke Arts Center, with four performers each night. Saturday and Sunday daytime programs include music, dance, children’s programs, craft demos, authors, sing-alongs, and instruction on four outdoor stages in Shawano’s Mielke Park. Local vendors offer an array of good food, and the Open Stage invites musicians a chance to perform for an appreciative audience. It’s a family weekend, and it goes on rain or shine. Join us for an evening, a day, or the entire weekend.
