Behind the scenes at Tecumseh Theater, local talent is hard at work. We're so happy to be working with Lepi Enterprises, Inc. from Zanesville, architect Richard Schultz from Athens, Ed Green Electric Inc from Logan, and many more Southeast Ohio professionals.

In Southeast Ohio, our roots run as deep as the coal seams and every brick in this structure tells a story—forged from local clay many generations ago. Today, we continue that tradition, ensuring that local hands carry on the work.

Tecumseh Theater, Soul of the Little Cities, is an investment in our future, a celebration of our rich labor history, and a testament to the enduring resilience of Southeast Ohio.

Where did the Miner go?

Many have inquired about the fate of Miner’s Park, located next to the theater.

Rest assured, the Miner statue is securely stored in a crate at the construction site. Once the construction phase is complete, the statue will be reinstalled, and the park will be beautifully landscaped.

Did you know that the Miner sculpture was created by renowned bronze artist Alan Cottril in Zanesville, Ohio? This sculpture stands as a reminder of American coal miner's and the significant contributions and achievements of American workers for fair and safe working conditions.

In addition to the Miner, Cottril is known for creating Ohio’s statue of Thomas Edison for the U.S. Capitol and numerous other statues across the state, including representations of Native Americans, Woody Hayes, and Brutus. Cottril’s gallery, located just off the Sixth Street Bridge in downtown Zanesville, is open to the public.

YouthShops! is making waves this summer, brought to you by Tecumseh Theater in partnership with Falcon FLY and Southern Local Schools. 🎨🌳 Over 40 kids are diving into nature, getting creative, and having a blast!

What’s YouthShops! all about? It’s an incredible program where kids immerse themselves in nature, explore their creativity, and make lasting memories. Through a mix of art projects, outdoor play, and nature-based activities, the goal is to provide a holistic experience that nurtures their connection to the environment and encourages self-expression.

But that’s not all! YouthShops! also offers kids a chance to learn about the rich labor and mining history of the area. Through place-based learning activities, they connect on a deep level with the local heritage, discovering the stories of the land and its people enriching their understanding of the community and the environment they live in.

A big shout-out to Joe Metz and The Nutrition Group from New Lexington for providing a fresh, healthy lunch every day for the kids. Plus, we’ve made it extra fun by having the kids decorate their own weekend food bags to take home!

YouthShops! is all about giving kids unforgettable experiences, inspired nature, the joy of creativity, and a deep appreciation for local history. 🌼🎨

We have a number of items in the theater that we need to store during installation of the sprinkler system. We are looking for a secure affordable storage space that would at least equal the size of one, preferably two, car garage to rent for six months to one year. Doesn't need to be heated, just locked and secure. Please text or call John Winnenberg at 740-707-1775 if you might help us out. Closer to Shawnee the better, but not essential. Space needed by June 15, 2024 or earlier.
