Our dad is the silliest, most hard-working, and loving man we know. We love him more than anything. Here’s the story about how the man who does it all made Gambino’s Catering happen:
Carlo came to the US on October 20, 1980 to work in his uncle’s pizzeria. Carlo & Rita met on an early fall day in 1985. They married in July of 1986, and started their family when Maria (1987) was born. A few years later, their first pizzeria, “Maria’s Pizza”, came to be, shortly before Enzo (1993) was born. Maria & Enzo were put to work right away, and spent the majority of their days hanging out with the customers. When living and working too far from family got to be too much, Carlo & Rita sold the restaurant, and Carlo went back to his trade as a house painter when Nina (1997) was born. Carlo’s love for and skills of cooking never went away, as he was often asked to cater events for family and friends in between painting jobs. When the requests never slowed down, Gambino’s Catering was born (2005). Since then, Carlo’s wild imagination has continued to grow the business. Now, the scheduling books at Gambino’s Catering are jam-packed with events consisting of pizza parties, full-service catering, and now gelato for weddings, grad parties, birthday celebrations, corporate events, and so much more. While the business continues to grow, the crew still remains family and friends who are so appreciated. Rita is head of scheduling, and Carlo is still the muscle and continues with the strenuous physical demands of the business at 67 years old. After shoulder replacements and what now look like a permanent lopsided walk, Carlo still puts in 18+ hour work days on the regular. Maria, Enzo, & Nina would do anything for their dad. He has shown them what it means to work hard, and when they know he’s in need of some extra help in the prep kitchen or cleaning up from the weekend chaos, they can’t stand to see him work so hard alone. Carlo is loved beyond belief. He shows love by food, and will always send you home with leftovers for the week (some for your neighbors & friends too). We are so lucky call him ours.
Happy Father’s Day to the men who mean the world to us!
