This Thursday at 4 p.m. we have an artist talk with Lisa Lofgren, , followed by an opening reception for her exhibition titled "East of West,"in the Edward A. Whitney Gallery. Lofgren looks to highlight the instances of discovery and moments of recognition through emotive, visual abstractions, allowing herself to get lost in the evolving subtleties of the print and the process. The resulting works, often inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, are translations of landscape, textures, body, and diagrams that reveal a presence of something more, an accumulation of knowledge, both unifying and honest.
Hope to see you there!

Our Story

Whitney Center for the Arts is home to live performances, art exhibitions and Sheridan College music and art departments. As one of the most advanced arts education centers in the west, it features programs in music, music technology, painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking and digital media. The WCA opened in 2016, providing students and arts patrons across the Northern Rockies with a state-of-the-art space for fine and performing arts programs, and shows and performances by artists from around the world. The 54,000 square-foot facility features a 422-seat concert hall, the largest in the region, including a changeable proscenium stage, motorized fly system and hydraulically convertible orchestra pit. Two gallery spaces showcase work by students, faculty and traveling shows throughout the year.
