If you haven't heard, Grizzly Bear 399-the queen of the Tetons sadly died earlier this week. I shared a couple stories on my personal page but will keep it shorter here. If you are unfamiliar with this bear, you should go look her up. There are countless photos, some books, and a documentary on her incredible legacy. I was lucky enough to photograph her earlier this spring, after years of trying and many failed trips. May you rest in peace mama bear, and thank you for the memories. ❤️🐻

Me- Has a little window to try to go snag pics of the comet tonight. Drives to closest park. Doesn’t see anything really, figures view was obstructed by too many lights.

Also me- Comes home, stops in the yard, sees the comet. 😂🤦‍♀️

So, I got a couple pics and video but they’re from the backyard, light pollution and telephone wires in the way… however now I know exactly where to look tomorrow. It was higher in the sky than my 2 star apps were telling me.

I am donating some prints to the Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction for my cousin Salym Bolser on June 23rd in Rich Hill, MO. The proceeds will help with medical bills from her cancer treatment.

Unfortunately, when the Aurora was at it's strongest, I was attending a stage production. However, after the play I hustled home and went out Friday night from 11 PM to almost 1 AM. Saturday I went to a tributary of the Mississippi river from 8 PM- 12:30 AM, took a break at home and then went back out from 2:15 AM- 5:30 AM. Sunday night I gave it a last try from 8:30 PM- 12:30 AM. I spent a lot of hours sitting by the river listening to the barred owls, coyotes, and bats. I didn't catch anything as grand as Friday's display-- but I am glad that I at least tried.

Here's a video of the Northern Lights (Aurora
Borealis) visible over St. Charles, Missouri on May 11,
2024. Please excuse the shakiness and the quick panning, I was taking photos as well and switching between video and photo mode on my camera. I also sped this up to be a quick time-lapse so you can see the movement of the aurora better.
