Somewhere in a barn there is a kid watching and admiring.

They are wanting to be like you one day. Showing at major shows and winning banners.

They want to help wash your heifers and rub them with the show stick while being fitted.

They want to hold your heifer the entire time while you are in the show ring with your other one.

They want to learn your showmanship tricks so they can walk into the ring, use them and win.

They will ask if you will come watch them when they show. Then go home and brag about the entire experience to their friends and how much fun it was.

Always remember that somewhere some kid is watching and hoping one day to chase banners just like you.

It is not always about the ribbons or the banners. Are they nice? Yes and something your kid is proud to hang in their room, show barn or on the side of a trailer for senior photos.

For a parent, it is this moment that means everything to us. The level of love we feel for our kids after watching them win is hard to explain.

We know the countless hours they put in with their animals. The arguments amongst siblings while working in the barn and the anxiety that loves to rear its ugly head on show days amongst all of us.

All of those things are minor compared to this. As a show mom, I’ve been able to have this experience with both of my girls. The moment when you hug them and tell them how proud of them you are.

I’m sure it’s the same for parents with kids in other activities.

For us show parents, this is a moment in time we will always cherish.

Before moving to southwest Iowa, I worked for Farm Journal Media. While there, my love for succession planning was born. I enjoyed traveling to Legacy Project events and listening to farm families talk about handing the farm on to the next generation. When we moved here, I had the opportunity to meet the Hays crew through my current job. In my opinion, they are an example of why succession programs were created. I have spent past year trying to get this crew to make time and finally my persistence paid off. One of my main goals for my photography brand is to photograph your farm legacy. My Story

I have loved photography for years. While in high school, my parents purchased a 35 mm film camera for me. I wish I knew how much money I've spent at Wal-Mart developing film. I love rural life. I love agriculture. I love capturing moments of both. I think of photography as therapy. When I'm behind my camera, I have no fear and I'm at peace. I purchased my camera in 2012. Five years later, I'm ready to rip the band aid off and started my own business. Blue Windmill Photography specializes in the following: - Senior Sessions - Family Sessions - Lifestyle Sessions - Rural Life Sessions Why Blue Windmill? Blue is a significant color to me. My girls and I both have blue eyes. I love windmills and my family farm has a few on our land. Also, when life brings big winds of change that almost blow you over, close your eyes, hang on tight, have faith and believe.
