Some days I still can’t believe that I get to have the privilege to work in historical landmarks. Places where most presidents in the history of the U.S. walked around in and made history in. Places where their portraits are hanging in them from centuries ago. My patriotism for the USA runs super deep because of it. I am so proud every time I do a wedding at the which is run by the (assn)! I always tell my clients to always take photos in front of the and all over the museum if possible. So many couples never get the chance to!

Never Forget…

I’m posting this today as I get shivers down my spine each year on 9/11 and I try to never work or go into any large public space. For years and years we have been asked to do memorial decor or events for 9/11. Always an honor. This year we created special floral boxes for the memorial service that will take place at the Pentagon tomorrow.

My soul will never forget that day and I hope we all take pause and remember the many who were killed in the name of hate, politics, and religion. I don’t feel like our country is in a better place now 23 years later with the extreme amount of hate I see here mixed with politics and religion within our own borders. Just asking for everyone’s future here that everyone take a second and look in the mirror and see where you can work on whatever you are hating right now…change truly starts from within. Kindness matters and it’s time we start recognizing that, really quick before we are quick to judge others. Sorry for my soapbox here. I am truly grateful that I get to be a part of special events and weddings all the time. I only hope my flowers bring some glimmer of peace and hope to others…because we really need it right now!

One of the reasons Shannon & Nathan’s wedding was so utterly awesome to me is that I had several “firsts” happen at their wedding. Very difficult to say that after almost 26 years in business in the DC/Baltimore Metro Areas! Here is one of them. They had their wedding ceremony at .dc in the Chapel of St. Ignatius. Now this is the small chapel attached to Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown. It is absolutely lovely with some fantastic and unique pieces of art inside of it. It was a very intimate and sweet ceremony focused on love, commitment, faith, family, and community. I will say we might have had a wedding there where my staff delivered there for flowers or another planner on staff took care of day of coordination there, but I have never personally been to this location my entire life being a Washingtonian (born in DC proper).

Then they had professional Irish dancers at their reception (will show that soon)! Hands down one of my most memorable and happiest weddings of almost 26 years in business!!!
