"Papa" here at the farm is a proud Veteran. There is no such thing as too much red white and blue. He also is the guy who does the setup, take down, lawn maintenance and all the "special requests". Here at ArBer Rose we are a working farm. Rain is coming so we are hurrying to finish the nut harvest. We have 9 grandsons and they are finally old enough to help grandma. It's all family here and thats why we can afford to charge less.

WOW! What a day. Thank you to everyone who visited us at the Portland Bridal Show. We look foward to all of our bookings from yesterday. ArBer Rose Farms Spotlights--The Swing

One of the favorite spots for Brides or grandkids is the front yard swing. The original swing shown here with me in my red keds and my dad was built by my grandfather and was my favorite place. I could swing for hours as a young girl dreaming away. As with all things, age wins, and the swing met its demise. One day, years ago, my husband asked me where I wanted my swing. 50 plus years later, you will still find that little girl swinging as high as I can go. Most times, with my eyes closed, I'm still dreaming. It survived the ice storm when the tree was heavily damaged, entertained 10 grandkids, and now is the must-have picture during weddings and other events.

We had the most wonderful fall baby shower today at the farm. We love repeat customers and coudn't be happier for her. It's a girl!

We had a wonderful dinner on the farm Friday! The rain gave way to a gorgeous evening in the hazelnuts. The food and wine pairings were absolutely delicious. A big thank you to Joel Autry for his amazing cooking skills and to all who came and enjoyed The Secret Garden party.

Why Dahlias here at the farm? My grandfather, Arthur, a poor Norwegian immigrant, left school in the 6th grade to help support his family. He worked for Floyd Fox as a laborer and was responsible for Mrs. Fox's prize winning Dahlias. Even late in his life he was proud of those Dahlias.

First Course:
Wild mushroom pate with fig onion jam on toasted baguette in the courtyard.
Followed by the main course served in the Hazelnut Orchard:
Roasted Pacific Cod with a Hazelnut Romeo sauce and Himalayan Red Rice Pilaf and Seasonal Vegetables.
The Dessert course: Apple Hazelnut Tart Tatin.

Did you know next year's cut flowers begin in August! Plugs are ordered, Peonies, Tulips and Rananculus arrive in a few weeks. Cold hardy annuals are started. All this while Sunflowers, Zinnias and Dahlias pull the load until first frost. What is your favorite flower season?

Another one of the cut flower bouquets from our farm that were done for the groom's mother's dressing area. Every wedding gets 2 buckets of cut flowers and if using the farmhouse we do the flowers inside.
