Today, we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a leader of diversity, nonviolence and equality, who accomplished so much in his 39 years of life!

Dr. King has been and will always be an inspiration to us. His admiration for the teachings and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi are ones that we can all embrace.

Dr. King first learned of Gandhi’s concept of nonviolence as a seminary student. As a Christian, he connected the Hindu thinker’s words to the Biblical appeal of to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

He said, “I came to see for the first time that the Christian doctrine of love operating through the Gandhian method of nonviolence was one of the most potent weapons available to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom,”.

Race, religion, economic and social differences didn't stop his message and mission then and it doesn’t today. Thank you and Happy Birthday, Dr. King. The dream lives on amd the work contiues.
