Due to a significant increase in fire activity in multiple geographic areas, as well as increased competition for shared resources, the National Preparedness Level has been elevated to Preparedness Level 4 (PL4).

In the last 20 years, 2002, 2008, and 2012 are the only previous fire years when the National Preparedness Level has been increased to PL4 in the month of the June. Since 1990, today is the second earliest we have increased to PL4.

We've got our eye on Potential Tropical Cyclone Three out in the Gulf. It appears that this may be more of a rain event than a wind storm. However Governor Edwards has already issued a state of emergency. Our equipment and personnel are ready to respond.

Dear Mara,

I am writing to thank you for your exceptional service to the British Army during our deployment to Fort Hood.

Across nearly 25 years of soldiering, the standards of service and hygiene you have achieved through your hard work are, without question, the best that I have seen at any temporary facility. What makes this even more impressive is the completely professional, polite and cheerful way you have conducted yourself in carrying out what I know is vital but often an unglamorous task.

This exercise has been an important part of the US and UK governments’ work to make our armies better able to operate together. We don’t know when or where our next deployment will be, but it is certain that our two nations see the world and its problems in much the same way and that training like this will vital in our next fight. Your personal contribution has helped us in that important mission and thus enabled the collective defense of our nations. Thank you.

I hope that you will now have a chance to rest and spend time with your families following your hard week over the last few months. A break has definitely been well-earned.

Please once again accept my sincere thanks and gratitude for a tough job brilliantly done.
