For runners, these are the hardest days of the year.

The daylight disappears too quickly. The air is cold, the pavement is wet, and motivation can feel just as heavy as the clouds overhead. It’s tough to lace up and head outside — and somehow even tougher to step onto the dreadmill.

We daydream about summer.

About long golden mornings and glowing evening miles.

About sunrise and sunset runs, warm air on our skin, the smell of sunscreen and sweat, and the simplicity of shorts, a singlet, socks, and shoes. No layers. No lights. No high-vis gear at 4:00 PM just to be seen.

But here’s the good news: tomorrow is the shortest day of the year.

From here on out, every single day gets a little longer. A little brighter. A little closer to those miles we’re longing for.

And one of the best ways to stay motivated through the dark days? Put a race on the calendar.

There’s nothing like a goal out in front of you — a finish line, a community, a reason to keep showing up when it’s cold and uncomfortable. Training with purpose changes everything.

After 2 years away we are really excited to announce that Snohomish Running Company is moving back into 811 Rainier Street in Snohomish. However, this time we will be focusing less on retail and more on creating a hub for the wellness community and runners in Downtown Snohomish.

Cindy’s running journey began back in high school Track & Field, where she competed in the 800m, 1600m, and relays. After college, she rediscovered her passion for running through road racing—working her way from 5Ks all the way to full marathons.

She trains year-round with the Seattle Greenlake Running Group, staying motivated by the camaraderie, accountability, and excitement of chasing new race goals. Running has also been truly life-changing for Cindy. After battling long-term COVID symptoms, she turned to running to rebuild her health—and found it more effective than medication.

Her favorite SRC event? The Snohomish River Run! She’s been part of it both as a racer and a pacer, and loves the scenic, flat riverfront course and how it brings the community together.

Outside of running, Cindy incorporates ballet and strength training into her cross-training routine. She runs to challenge herself, build resilience, and stay connected to the running community she loves so much.
