Q on the Creek returns for the second year, October 11, 2014 at the Elaney
Wood Farmer's Market in Snow Hill. A North Carolina sanctioned competition
with N.C. Pork Council cooking guidelines used for the judging. Pork
production is a huge contributor to Greene County's economy. The Sweet
Potato Festival has the Q on the Creek Event to promote and highlight the
pork industry. Greene County ranks 6th in the State for hogs and pigs
production. Join the Festival's Q on the Creek Cook off event and enjoy
great barbecue.
Teams will begin setting up equipment after 6 pm on Friday, October 10,
2014.
Pigs will be delivered to each team by 9 pm, Friday, October 10, 2014.
Introduction of Teams, Sponsors and presentation of trophies will be held at
1:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Q on Creek Barbeque plates will be served starting at 11:00 a.m. Tickets
are $10 per person which includes a barbeque plate with slaw, sweet potato,
and hush puppies. Drinks and desserts will be for sale on site. Pick up
plates are also available. Proceeds will be used to fund a 2015 scholarship
for a Greene County student pursuing an agriculture degree & a food donation
will be made to Interfaith. Ticket can be purchased at Town of Walstonburg,
Town of Hookerton, Morris BBQ~Hookerton, Town of Snow Hill, Greene County
Cooperative Extension office, Chamber of Commerce.
