Nashville Recording Artist Schaefer Mueller a recently retired, Army Airborne Combat Veteran who has taken his discipline and strength to build a career both in science and music. By day, he is a scientist working in a biomedical research lab. Who has published multiple co-authored articles in distinguished journals dealing with Molecular and Cellular Physiology. By night, he's a musician who has performed to the heartbeats of audiences around the world.

The first songs I wrote on the guitar with lyrics were two simple little tunes I wrote one afternoon at the age of 18, just out of high school. I’d have to find the lyrics, as they have faded in my memory. One was about feeling somewhat jaded and getting old (of all things), and the other was something along the lines of sharing a cannabis high with my mom to help her tune in to the natural beauty of the ocean, sky, trees, etc., and “Be in the Now.”

Only a curtain separated her from the distant rumbling of 60,000 people Bunny had never seen so many humans gathered in one place let alone perform for them. She couldn't tell which emotion was winning the battle inside her, it was a three-way tie between nervous, scared and excitement. She inhaled through her nose to calm the fluttering butterflies in her stomach. She focused on the musicians and crew members moving around backstage to try and settle her nerves. FULL ARTICLE BELOW

The first time I saw Garrett play live was at Chords & Conversations, during the last round of 2023. I remember thinking, “Man, I’d really love to be in a band with this guy.”
He opened with a song called “Wanted Man,” which reminded me of one of my favorite bands, Train. His next song, “Let It Rain, Let It Rumble,” took a different direction with a reggae melody, showcasing a completely different sound and style. Then, with his third song, “I Am Free,” he switched gears again to a fingerpicking bluegrass tune. By the time the fourth song came around, I was on the edge of my seat, eager to see what else he had in his repertoire. He didn’t disappoint, his final song, “Enough Love for a Lover,” was a raspy, bluesy tune that felt like it should be played in a smoky bar, absolutely brilliant.

You’d think, after showcasing 52 local artists in Chords & Conversations “Songwriters In The Round” events, I’d have a hard time finding new talent. Heck, I thought so too! I mean, we don’t live in Austin or Nashville where every barista and cab driver is a singer-songwriter. But lo and behold, I stumbled upon another gem, Sarah Jane Superman. Where’s she been hiding? Just in Nikiski. Where should she be? Definitely Nashville.
