Great Job, Kara! Thanks to 2024 Rogers Scholar Kara Smallwood of Laurel County, 23 students at East Bernstadt Elementary School know more about coding. Kara introduced students to the fundamentals of coding, as part of her Rogers Scholars community service project. “This project was a fulfilling opportunity to share my passion for computer science with students. It was incredible rewarding to see their excitement and engagement as they began to understand the basics of coding.”

Just a quick reminder about tomorrow's monthly Chamber luncheon on Tuesday, April 1st. We are excited to host Founder & Chairman Emeritus of Lexington Legends Baseball, Alan Stein as our guest speaker.

Folks ..... this should be a good one !!!

Alan Stein may be best known for bringing professional baseball back to Lexington in 2001 as the founder of the Lexington Legends, but he has a long list of interests and accomplishments.

Alan’s work in baseball extended well beyond the Legends. He has been part of the ownership of teams in other cities, and has held numerous leadership positions in professional baseball. It also covers the Legends’ story, the challenges, rewards, and fun of minor league baseball, his connections with some of baseball’s biggest names – and of course, the story behind those concerts at UK in the early 70s.

Lunch will be held at The Center for Rural Development and will begin at 12:00 (Noon).

Operation UNITE, in partnership with the Louisville Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA and Operation Parent, are pleased to announce the 4th annual Tri-State Family Summit, to be held Tuesday, May 13, at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset.

This Summit is for family members and friends who have suffered a loss from fentanyl poisoning or an overdose from other drugs. We will explore the extent of current drug trends, provide prevention and treatment resources, discuss actionable steps you can take within your community, and identify potential areas for collaboration.

Great Project J.T.! 2024 Rogers Scholar J.T. Loy of Adair County organized a holiday toy drive for students served by the school’s Family Resources Youth Services Center (FRYSC). He collected and donated toys to children in need. “I enjoyed this project because the holidays are a magical time for children. The FRYSC Center coordinators told me that many families are very emotional and extremely grateful when they receive their gifts and that is very rewarding to me.”
