Memphis Underground is a fun, high-energy, 7-piece, Classic Vinyl Dance Band. We play the songs people know and love from Contemporary to Funk & Blues
to Classic Rock and Memphis Soul. Good times with great music!
“Memphis Underground” is comprised of experienced and professional musicians from across northern Indiana and southern Michigan. We are a versatile band that plays events & clubs in the Indiana/ Illinois/ Michigan area. This band knows how to have a good time and it shows on stage. We play a mixed groove of Memphis Soul, Motown, Blues, Rock, and Funk to current dance music. The combination of soulful and gritty vocals with the passionate guitar and rocking saxophone makes for a night of music to remember. Perfect for Celebrations, Community Events, Festivals, Tent Parties, Weddings, etc. This band will bring the crowd to its feet! A wide musical range and customizable playlists make us perfect for events that have a wide demographic in attendance.
5 Instruments include Sax, Keys, and a powerful backline. Both Female and male lead vocalists round out the from line. No matter what your celebration is, Corporate or Community Events, Festivals, Tent Parties, Weddings, etc., this band will bring the crowd to its feet and if there is a dance floor, you can count on dancers from the first song to the last song. Performance package options can include either a Two Set or Three Set Show. Other options include a DJ between sets. We can even cover dinner/ cocktail hour music with a soloist if needed.

She’s a dear friend, who follows our band and took this photo at the DANK #13 Benton Harbor/St./ Joseph Michigan of all the wonderful dancers who came as far away as Valparaiso to dance with our band. MU bringin it to the D.A.N.K on Sat. Full team but no Shawn ☹️. We even had some members of Blue Man Group. Cambrae Fox taking lead female vocs (Brians amazing daughter) while Shawn gets used to her new knees. Thx MU Music Family and all the music lovers who came out to see us in 2023. Is that a new singer with Memphis Underground? Nope it's the father of the Bride jamming out with the band. Such a great night & we loved performing for these wonderful people. So happy they chose MU and Midwest Photographics. My favorite part was when Scott (Groom) played "Somewhere over the Rainbow" to his beautiful wife Jiye on a10 foot Marimba I must say that Shawn and I were so proud of MU for learning all of their special dance songs and helping to create a memorable night for all. Next week: Fridays by the Fountain (SB) and The Elkhart Grand Prix.

Great gig at OxStock! this "Summer of Love" Concert featured Kiss the Sky and several of our local bands ! MU loved being in this line-up with High Gravity, & Wendy Martin & The B-Side. Michiana Rocks!

a HUGE thanks to Memphis Underground for stepping into our Groovin' in the Gardens concert series lineup at Wellfield Botanic Gardens with less than 24 hours notice, filling in for a band that experienced an unfortunate emergency and was unable to play. Great musicians, terrific attitudes, and a pleasure to work with. A real crowd pleaser and we hope we can get them on the schedule next summer at Wellfield!

Hot, humid, & rain-but everyone still had a great time at yesterday's Elkhart River Music event. Thanks to Glenda and Dennis for having MU and supplying the food and fun for the River Community. MU played long cuz Nobody wanted to leave- Good times!

Cool off today with MU! I suggest everyone watches the band from an inner tube in the river. Not much car parking for this event, but plenty of boat, raft, and inner tube parking.
It's a back-to-back music weekend on the Upper St. Joe! Saturday night, July 20th Dennis & Glenda Smeltzer and Pat & Patti Cripe will be hosting the next Music on the River at 54090 Eastview Dr. in Bristol starting at 6:00pm.

We really enjoyed playing for our friends in Cassopolis (COA Music Series)last night. The hilltop dancers, everybody was singing along, percussion section (Memphis minis), amazing food (sold out- gotta save somethin for da band). Awesome audience (& thanks for the love and standing ovation). MU Will be back in Cassopolis on Sept 9, at the Stone Lake Beach with the Roosters opening. CU soon Cassopolis!

Special thank you to Joe Probst for handling the cocktail hour last Saturday at the wedding gig. Joe is the perfect guy for this – upbeat , jazzy, seasonal, whatever he senses, the people would like – he plays it .
