In anticipation for the upcoming solos for our Alastair Presents: Neighboring Bach concert, let us dig a little deeper into the musicians we will be showcasing for this performance!
Concertmaster Jameson Cooper gained national recognition as the Concertmaster of the National Youth Chamber Orchestra at the BBC Proms. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, he furthered his violin studies in the U.S. with Dorothy Delay and Roland/Almita Vamos. As a founding member of the Euclid Quartet, Cooper has garnered prestigious competition prizes, performing at esteemed venues like Carnegie Hall. The quartet, an Artist in Residence at Indiana University South Bend, received an NEA grant for innovative educational programming. Cooper's diverse albums range from contemporary solo violin works to quartets by Bartok, Kauder, and Marsalis. An accomplished soloist, his recent solo recordings encompass Prokofiev, Respighi, French sonatas, and Spohr's Violin Duos.
