2022 Scandinavian Park Festival
2022’s Scandinavian Day Festival was a wet one, BUT that didn’t stop the fun!
Let’s hope this years’ weather is more shine ☀️ than rain ☔️ #tbt
The Viking of Vasa Park
Who doesn’t love The Viking of Vasa Park?
The Viking was carved in July of 2023 by Top Notch Chainsaw Carvings
He now proudly guards the banks of the Fox River, keeping us safe from rogue jet skis and rowdy pontoon riders.
Be sure to come and say hi during Scandinavian Day Festival on September 8th. Can you believe it’s only 19 days away?!?!
2021’s Scandinavian Day Festival
24 days until this years’ Scandinavian Day Festival.
Today’s #tbt is going back to 2021’s festivities as we came back together after the pandemic.
#TBT 2019 Scandinavian Day Festival
We are ONE MONTH away from this years’ festival!
Here’s a little #tbt to 2019 Scandinavian Day Festival.

Kubb Tournament and Picnic
Sunday was our annual Kubb tournament and picnic. It was a blast!
Teams from Energy City Kubb and various Scandinavian organizations competed for the coveted Kubb trophies.
Congratulations to our winning “skilled” teams:
🥇Kubbix Rubes
🥈Old Salty Bastards
🥉Something Clever
Our “backyard” team winners were:
🥇Vasa Park Vikings
🥈Verdandi 1
🥉Verdandi 2
Kubb is a great game that can be played no matter your age or skillset. We hope to continue the Kubb tradition at the park for years to come!!
🍗 Thanks to BBQ on Wheels for the amazing food. (www.bbqonwheels.com)
📸 Thanks Mike Nyman for sharing some of your pictures. You got some great shots of the Verdandi teams! 🇸🇪
There’s something new at the park…located next to the dragon heads, is our new donation kiosk!! Next time you’re at the park, feel free to drop a donation into the blue box. There is also a QR code if you prefer to make a donation electronically. We even have a QR code to become a member! Coming soon will be a list of all the ongoing projects that you can contribute to. We will be sure to update you when that is completed. A very special thanks to Scandinavian Park, Inc. member Jason Ashwell. He not only donated all the supplies, but also built this new addition. We appreciate you!
A little #tbt of 2019’s Heritage Fest. Were you there???
Have you seen the Heritage Walkway? The idea was created by Jackie Moline and her son Bryan Chesley in 2007. Bryan mapped out the idea and it was approved by the Board in 2008. The original funding came from donations made to Vasa Park in the name of Jackie’s husband, Russ. Russ was a board member who, sadly, passed away in 2005. The Board named the garden “Heritage Walkway,” and it was dedicated at a ceremony on June 7, 2009.The Garden is now maintained by volunteers, with Bryan Chesley maintaining the brickwork and installing new memorial pavers. Want to honor someone special, recognize a family member, or memorialize loved ones? Why not purchase a personalized paving stone and your gift will be proudly displayed for future generations.https://www.vasaparkil.com/docs/heritage-walk-and-garden-order-form-final.pdf
Have a safe and happy 4th of July 🇺🇸🦅
Have you seen our butterfly garden??? 🦋Near the front entrance is a beautiful butterfly garden planted by our local Girl Scouts. It adds a nice pop of color for all to enjoy! 😊 We value our local boy and girl scout groups and are looking forward to hosting a day camp this month. 🏕️ So, next time you’re at the park, be sure to stop by “the canoe” to take a peek. 🌸🌷🌼
Picking up a few branches knocked down by last nights’ storms. ⛈️ Being a non-profit organization, we rely on our members and volunteers to keep the park in great shape. Consider becoming a member today! https://www.vasaparkil.com/membership_form.asp
