REST IN PARADISE, TAYLOR - A sad day in the world of music as we’ve lost one of the great drummers and musicians, Taylor Hawkins at 50 years old. Taylor was an exceptional drummer who joined Foo Fighters on March 18, 1997. The Foo Fighters we’re going through issues with their lineup when Dave Grohl and their previous drummer we’re having inter-conflict. As he was already a friend of Grohl’s, Dave went to Taylor for advice on who would fill in for their vacant role. In the meantime, the band regrouped and re-recorded their second album with Grohl filling in on drums.
Grohl called Hawkins for recommendations following this album on who could be the newest Foo member. Taylor was already in a bigger act at the time with Alanis Morissette and Grohl was under the impression he would not leave the band. However, to his surprise, Taylor was yearning to be in a rock band rather than a single name act. In joining the Foo Fighters, Taylor had the immense responsibility of filling in the big shoes of Dave Grohl behind the drum kit. Taylor rose to the occasion time and time again, however, and solidified himself as one of the greatest drummers we’ve seen. The world lost a legend today and we’ll truly miss him. RIP and be sure to blast some Foo today in his honor. Enjoy ♥️
