Did you watch the inauguration today? Picture it without the stirring sounds of the military musicians—the drums, brass, and melodies that add depth and meaning to such a historic moment.

Tonight is the college football national championship. Can you imagine the electric energy of the game without the marching bands filling the stadium with excitement and pride?

Think about all the moments in life that are defined by music—weddings, celebrations, movies, holidays, and even a simple car ride with your favorite song. Music connects us, inspires us, and makes every experience richer.

Now consider this: the incredible musicians who perform at these iconic events all started somewhere—often in a school band program. These programs are where students first learn to read music, work as a team, and develop the discipline and passion that carry them into lifelong musical journeys.

Music education doesn’t just create great musicians; it builds teamwork, creativity, leadership, and resilience. Without school music programs, we risk losing the foundation for so many of these life-changing opportunities.

Share your story: What does music mean to you? Why do you support music education?

Comment below and join the effort to ensure that music education continues to inspire and empower future generations. Together, we can keep music alive in our schools and communities.

Today the Indiana State Board of Education officially voted to remove arts education from all levels of the high school diploma beginning with the class of 2029 (this year’s 8th graders). While we at Whitko will continue to offer the best possible arts education to our students, and our students to come, we need your help and support now more than ever! Any chance you get to support arts students at Whitko will show that you value arts education and wish for it to continue regardless of what is “required” for high school graduation. Arts education impacts ALL students, regardless of their direct participation in the arts, so make a statement by supporting those that do participate for the sake of your school, your community, and your state!

We fought hard but our season has come to a close. This year’s group worked so incredibly hard and accomplished so much. For such a young group to do so well gives us much hope for the future of the Marching Pride. Congratulations to our senior class on their final performance, and congratulations to the whole Marching Pride on yet another fantastic season!
