September dates are some of my favorites!

Starred dates ** explained more below ⬇️ (just some added ideas!!)

📚 Bookstore date: browse your local bookstore and play a game called page count: truth or dare. What you will do is pick up a book and before opening it, you both will guess how many pages the book has. Person closest to the correct number without going over gets to choose a truth or dare for the other person.

The no. 2 answer I get when I ask, “what holds you back from having more date nights?”

“We’re too tired” 🥱

I’d bet you do most of these things when you’re tired anyway…so just tweak it a little and do these things with a little intention behind them. Do them together. Be present. It doesn’t take a lot to make low energy dates feel connecting.

And if you need some questions to help get you in the right mood start with these:

1. What is something that you often stress out that you feel shouldn’t?
2. What is something you wish you could do more of and why?
3. What would you say we are most different in and why does that bring strength to our marriage?
4. What is a toy you played with in your childhood?
5. What were some of your favorite phrases to say back in high school that kids today wouldn’t say?
6. What year of marriage has been our hardest yet and how did we grow?
7. If you could get on a plane, where would you go?
8. Do you ever wish we lived somewhere else? Where would it be?
9. What do I do that makes your day a little easier?
10. What’s your favorite way to be greeted when you come home?

Don’t forget to save this to come back to later!

How much did you love this book?!!!

I’m a sucker for a good rom-com!

I’m also a weirdo and write down all the quotes I love - pretty much all of chapter 32 is saved in my notes 😅 but here are the highlights.

From the list, which rule is your favorite?

You’ve felt it before

You’re so stressed and tired and being pulled from every direction. How can you possibly even fit in a date tonight or even muster up the energy to go? You go. You come back to your stressed out environment, but you notice you’re not that stressed anymore. In fact, you feel a bit calm and happy. What happened?

Connection happened. Date nights with your spouse is not about the activity you go and do - it’s about connecting. That feeling of being seen, cared for, listened to, loved. The feeling of being his wife and putting off mom mode for a bit. This feeling of connection lasts way longer than just for the morning after.

Have you noticed after a date with your person you feel more attracted to them??

Are you more likely to make them breakfast or bring them coffee when you feel connected?

Do you find yourself smiling more just because?

Maybe you notice there is less friction between the two of you and when touchy subjects come up you are better at understanding and listening to one another?

These are just a few of the things I’ve noticed when we have given time for connection. What about you? What do you notice after you’ve had a really great time together??

These are called the roll-over date nights. It’s similar to the to-do list items that don’t get crossed off and keep making the list the next day and the next 😂

Here’s to 2024 and hopefully getting to cross some of these off!!

never have we been to a drive-in movie - but it just seems like a more romantic way to watch a movie 🎥

is the date I know for sure Cameron will be all for!

I’ve heard this experience is better with a group so…who’s been and who wants to go with us?!!!

opened just this month - Jan. 2024!! And looks like a blast! This is probably the date I need to push me a little out of my comfort zone.

I want to hear a date you’re looking forward to going on in 2024, put it in the comments 👏👏👏

This happens every time I head to a wedding.

I start reflecting on my own wedding. The advice we got then, the learning and growing we’ve done in between, to what advice would I give now??

What advice would you give? Did you receive any from the beginning that really stuck? Or did you find through experience your own advice that you wish you would have gotten??

I have to writing SOMETHING in their guest book…but I think I have it. The advice I would give now is…
