Live performances by music students and faculty will provide the backdrop for excellent catered food and drink. Proceeds benefit the music department and student scholarships directly.

As part of the SD Music Teacher's Association conference, guest artist Mark Billy, baritone, will present a recital tonight at 8pm (not the usual 7pm) with pianist J. Cruise Berry in Meier Hall. Selections will include classical/operatic literature and Indigenous music. It promises to be a fantastic performance and is open to the public; free admission.

The various chamber music ensembles of Black Hills State University, some of which are entirely student-organized, will be featured on a concert dedicated to chamber music on Sunday, October 27, at 2:00pm in Meier Hall. These groups are small but mighty! The program includes the Jazz Combo, Clarinet Choir, Honeycomb Brass, and more. Free admission.

The Dakota Chamber Orchestra will perform its first of two concerts for the semester this Sunday, October 20th at 2:00pm in Meier Hall. The program features a young and talented soloist from the Black Hills, Rachael Bunger, on Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4, a colorful and charming English Idyll by George Butterworth, and the incomparable Symphony No. 5 by Ludwig van Beethoven in its entirety with a brief educational presentation by the director, Dr. Skye van Duuren. Free admission.

A guest artist, pianist Lyudmila Belakova, will present a recital at BHSU on October 26th, 4pm, in honor of bereaved parents. Free admission with donations collected. It promises to be a beautiful and meaningful program.

It's a new year and our students are already back in the spotlight! The Honeycomb Brass performed a jazzy show for "Fat Tuesday" from 11am-1pm today in the Hive, surrounded by Mardi Gras inspired decorations for BHSU's Swarm Days homecoming celebrations.

Come see this charming show directed by Angie O'Shea and Nancy Roberts! It is a two-person musical featuring Aidan O’Shea and Grace Roberts. The music is lovely and it is a beautiful story. An orphan is sent to college by a mysterious benefactor on the condition that she write him letters to which he will never respond. How will these letters change his heart and her future?

The Dakota Chamber Orchestra will perform as the final event of the all-day Music Festival on Saturday, April 27th at 5pm (not the usual 7pm), in Meier Hall, BHSU Campus, Spearfish. Selections include Prokofiev's beloved children's tale with music, Peter and the Wolf; the colorful and delightful Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens; and more. Young music fans are especially encouraged to attend. Admission is free.
