Plans have changed on this weekend. I WILL NOT BE OUT AT THE EXPO this weekend. Found out today that they are bringing there own food truck. Which is ok with me. Might be able to take the wife out Saturday and use our gift certificate to the steak house.

Scenes from last night at the Boot Hill Distillery . They had a good crowd all night long. Either there wasn't enough alcohol in them or they just wasn't hungry last night. I sold some but it wasn't what I had a goal for. All well next time maybe. I had a good time though. Visited with some of the ones I knew there. We will be back in Dodge next Saturday at the American Legion building serving for the 1994 class reunion. Stop by and get you some BBQ if you would like before the rodeo. Hope to see you there. I just got done going through tickets. We served 314 people at the festival. Thank you to everyone that came by our trailer. I will admit it wasn't as hectic this year with the extra trucks. Yes we would have some long runs but at least we could get a break in once in a while. I was also making sure my help was staying well hydrated. Even though there is an ac unit on top of my trailer. That thing doesn't do any good when serving. You have a 150 degree steam table you are working over. The temp in the trailer will get as hot or hotter than it is outside. Rhonda did get heated up and we sent her home to get cooled back off. I was also getting worried about Jennifer cause she was getting really red also. So I ran her out of the trailer for a while also. I was able to take it cause I use to work in a hot mechanic shop wearing black uniforms. I don't miss that life one bit.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Jennifer and Rhonda for your help yesterday. I don't want to forget a THANK YOU to everyone that came by the trailer yesterday. We have some great customers. My hat also goes off to the Spearville City of Windmills COW Fest committee for a great last two days for a well run event. Music and the fireworks display was a great way to end the day. This is what I feel like doing today. Yesterday was a great day. I didn't know what to expect with the 6 food trucks at this festival. I brought what I usually bring to the festival the last few years. I was figuring on bringing some back home with me. Spearville City of Windmills COW Fest you Sold me out last night around 9pm. Now time to get the trailer switched around to do catering this coming weekend. I will be hosting my family reunion on my Grandma's side of the family. Looking forward to this. Been a few years since I have seen some of them.
On July 26 we will be back in Dodge City at the Boot Hill Distillery for Final Friday and the start of Dodge City Days. Will be launching a new item that night. More to come on that later. Can you Smell Whats Cookin' .

We have all of our family here for a few days. They don't realize yet they are going to be test samplers on the items on the left. This family gathering and our family reunion happening in two weeks are the testers. The item on the left is close to being launched in this trailer for special events. When we send something out the window in our food trailer it goes through lots of test runs before we launch it. That is the way all of our products have been. The item has to be right and good before we send it out. They have to hit the marks for me. Will have results here in the near future. Until then can you Smell Whats Cookin' .

177lbs of brisket cooked last night. Sliced up and ready to go. Customer is on their way to pick it up. Will be going to a church function in Garden City. Shouldn't have sat down for a bit. Now it is hard to get up and go clean my mess up. Asked a couple people to come over and help but they said they had things to do. Guess I will go get started.
My son and his family will be here Tuesday. Taking a few days off to spend time with them. Next up on our events is the Spearville City of Windmills festival. See you all then. Can you Smell Whats Cookin' .

Been a little while since we catered a meal. Had to knock the rust off. We were at the Ford county fairgrounds. Catered a meal for the State of Kansas Department of Agriculture tonight. Was a small one. They ordered for 55 and I served 30. But hey got rid of some business cards. So that is a win for sure and I had lots of compliments about the meal. I bet a few get to take some leftovers home tonight.
Cooking 177lbs of brisket Saturday for another person. It's going to be a short weekend for us but we enjoy doing it. This one is going to be easy. They are coming to pick it all up when I get it done.
Our next big event I hope is the Spearville City of Windmills festival. They have 6 food trucks coming. See how that goes. Not sure how to prepare for this one. Guess when I run out I run out, I hope. Don't want to come home with a bunch of leftovers.

We have a little bit of cooking to do over the next couple of weeks. Start off Thursday with a catering job for the Ks department of Agriculture. Saturday do a cook for a fellow food trucker. They don't do BBQ but were asked to do some for their church. They don't have a smoker so asked me if I would cook it for them. Told them we would. If you are ever over in Garden City check them out. Pinky's Grilled Cheestro is there name.
4th of July will have family here. Will spend some time with them and do special cooks for them. On the second Friday and Saturday of July 12 and 13 will be at the Spearville City of Windmills festival.
Everyone stay cool this week. Going to be a hot one here. Also stay hydrated. Until our trails cross. Keep yer nose to the wind cause you never know what you might Smell Whats Cookin' .

What can I say about this show other than Amazing. The Sunflower Classic Benefit Truck Show does some great things and brings lots of truckers and people together to help benefit a family each year. This year wasn't any different. This show raised $34,000 to give all to the family. If you get a chance go on the truck show page and watch the awards show. Towards the end of it the receiving family talks about Parker and their situation. They are a wonderful young family.
We have been asked to come back again. It is nice to hear people tell you we had your stuff last year. I had a family couple come up to the window this year. Was a mother in law and her son in law. They placed a big order. That is when the argument started on who was paying. The son in law had cash and the mom had a card. I grab the cash cause card charges you a service fee. That was my mistake, I thought she was going to come through my window and strangle me for doing that. So I gave in and took the card. It was all in fun. I want to say THANK YOU to all that came by this weekend. We will see you all next year.

Smell Whats Cookin' wants to say THANK YOU to the guys and gals that attended the Sunflower Classic Benefit Truck Show . You SOLD US OUT today. Yesterday we was a couple pans short. But over the two days you managed to put $100.00 in the tip jar. That money went to Parker's family tonight before I left. We also donated another $150.00 from sales these last 2 days. Which gave the family $250.00 total. If it wasn't for great customers like yourselves we couldn't do that. Your support lets us be able to make the donation. We have already made plans to come back next year. We heard from lots of you that you remembered us from last year. That means a bunch to us that you came back. Keep an eye out on my page and maybe we will get close to you. THANK YOU again.

We are just a few short hours from being over in Garden City. We will be at the SUNFLOWER CLASSIC BENEFIT TRUCK SHOW and also to support Parker. As I said in a previous post I will have a tip jar out and all the money in it will go to Parker. Smell Whats Cookin' will also make a donation to the family. I don't think I will be open right at noon on Friday but hope to be open around 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Then be open the rest of the day. Will also be there Saturday and open around 11:00 am. Come out and see some amazing trucks that deliver the produce to you and support Parker.

They said he visits every day. I will have to get a better picture of my 2 meat and 2 side plate. Was in a hurry then. Make it a neater presentation. We are back out here at the Sante Fe Trail Center Tired Iron Days. Another 25 tractors have showed up this morning. They did the parade and the fly over. Now they have an antique tractor pull going on. Some them old tractors have got some pulling power to them. We have all of our goodies again today. Hope to see you out here. Here is the coolest machine out here. Lots of antique tractors also. Have 2 steam engines they run around with and do demonstrations. I will try to get a video tomorrow of the anvil shoot. It has been a decent day for me today considering the weather played havoc on the crowd. Tomorrow suppose to be sunny and calmer.
