❄️ The Wait is Almost Over! Winter Blast is Tomorrow! ❄️
Spirit Lake Elementary, the day we've been waiting for is almost here! Winter Blast is tomorrow, Friday, January 17th, and it's going to be a day filled with fun, creativity, and learning!

Students will engage in exciting winter-themed activities while exploring new concepts, crafts, and teamwork. It’s the perfect blend of education and fun!

We can't wait to celebrate and learn together tomorrow!

During J-Term, our students are gaining invaluable hands-on experience as they explore career pathways and develop real-world skills.

Meghan Hansen is completing her Senior Capstone at Okoboji Wellness Clinic. With plans to become a nurse, she’s already taken a significant step by completing the CNA program offered through ILCC.

Carson Denekas is diving into the automotive world at Lakes Autosport. As he explores the path to becoming an auto mechanic.

Isaac Ostovic is gaining valuable experience at Hicks Family Practice, where he’s exploring opportunities in the medical field.

Hunter Jackson is spending his J-Term at AgCo in Jackson, where he’s getting a first-hand look at how a large manufacturing company operates.

📚 Maddux Hodges is working alongside Mr. Zankowski, gaining firsthand experience in teaching and diving into building a computer from scratch.

We are incredibly grateful to these local businesses and organizations for hosting our students and supporting their growth.

The student interns at Lakes Regional Healthcare had the incredible opportunity to gain practical experience through a hands-on session provided by the hospital staff. From practicing injections to suturing and intubation, these students are diving into the medical field with real-world applications of their training.

This invaluable experience is helping them expand their knowledge and build the skills they need for future success in healthcare.

Good Luck Indians! Take note of the locations, they are different than usual. Girls will play in the Middle School Gym starting at 4:30, JV boys game in the East Gym at 4:30. Girls Varsity begins at 6:00 pm in the East Gym and Boys to follow.

SLHS Interns Exploring Career Paths!

🚗 Jake Jacobs and Isaiah McQuown discovered that work at Lakeside Detail and Tint goes beyond vehicles. They kicked off their Monday morning detailing boats—learning the importance of attention to detail in every project!

📞 Keval Chaudhari has been sharpening his customer service skills at Bridges Bay Resort, where he’s busy fielding phone calls and taking reservations, ensuring guests have the best experience.

💻 Bennett Larson has been hands-on at Advanced Network Professionals, visiting job sites and gaining valuable tech experience. He’s even had the chance to work alongside several SLHS graduates currently thriving at ANP!

Claire Turner and Maia Lammers are getting real-world experience interning at Hinn Real Estate. With guidance from SLHS graduates Sophie and Grace Hinn, they’re learning the ropes of the real estate world!

Camilla Neppl is diving into the veterinary field with hands-on learning alongside her mentor, Stacie, the lead vet technician at Homestead Small Animal Practice in Spencer.

This J-Term there is a Consumer Chemistry class offered to students interested in learning about how science plays a role in consumer products today. The class recently went on a field trip to Wells Blue Bunny in Lemars to learn about the science of ice cream, along with a lab on over-the-counter drugs.

This J-Term, Tate Norgaard is gaining incredible hands-on experience during his internship with Ratified Motorsport in Minnesota! He’s diving deep into the world of cars, learning valuable skills, and exploring his passion for automotive work.

The Human/Animal Connections class has kept a busy schedule this J-term, last week the students got the chance to go to the Great Plains Zoo to learn more about animals kept in captivity. The students researched and designed "perfect" habitats for animals based on their actual habitats and compared that with their habitats in the zoo.

The Unified Activities class recently took a trip to Arnolds Park, where they explored the rich history of the park, learned about job opportunities, and, of course, had a little fun along the way!

This J-Term class gives students the chance to discover a variety of living, learning, and working opportunities right here in our community. We love seeing them engage with local businesses and experiences that help them prepare for the future!

Let’s highlight another group of hard-working interns this J-Term!

🐾 Isabelle has been busy at The Fur Coat, helping Jan groom dogs and learning the ins and outs of the pet care industry. She’s excited to be gaining a skill that could one day lead to owning her own business—how inspiring!

📚 Brooke Wollmuth and Gelena Duvall have stepped into the classroom to assist with 6th-grade Social Studies. They’re kicking off a new unit on Egypt, and here you can see them working alongside a student to build a pyramid out of toothpicks and marshmallows. We love seeing these hands-on experiences in action—what a fun and educational way to learn!

📸 Aubree Hansen is interning at the Estherville News. She’s already making her mark with a fantastic sidebar article that ran just yesterday—written entirely by her! What an amazing way to dive into the world of journalism.

📘 Lauren Travis is gaining hands-on experience in education by interning with a few middle school teachers. She’s stepping right into the classroom, taking on tasks, and even helping teach students. What an exciting way to explore her future career!
