Alabama Marriage Certificate no longer an option for TDCJ. If you have already done one, you may want to contact Alabama and/or TDCJ about the validity of it.
Effective May 18, 2022, BOTH signatures on the Alabama Marriage Certificate MUST be notarized by an Alabama notary, a Texas notary WILL NOT be accepted. Check the picture and/or the first question on Page 3 of 4 at the link below.
Per the Alabama Office of the Attorney General’s opinion issued May 18, 2022, a "Marriage Certificate form notarized by a notary public not authorized to notarize under the laws of the State of Alabama shall not be accepted for recording by an Alabama probate court. A Marriage Certificate form notarized by a notarizing officer of the U.S. Department of State is also not acceptable."
