It’s my grandma Patty’s funeral today. My grandma was such an example of making life joyful. She taught me how to appreciate the little things and how to infuse fun into simple everyday moments at home. In fact, she deserves credit for why “frivolity” is a part of my business name. She taught me how essential the “unessentials” are. Things like picnics, parties, dress up pageants, decorations, games, toys and all things creative. My grandma was an artist just like her dad, her daughters and many of her grandchildren. One day she was watching me arrange flowers on my back deck and commented how “most the artists in our family use a paintbrush, but you create art with your flowers”. She was such a cheerleader of me my whole life and I’m so grateful I was blessed to spend so much time on earth with an amazing example like her.
Her favorite flower was sweet pea and, because we had just moved, I didn’t grow any this year. Thankfully my friend, Alissa from has a beautiful crop so I was able to incorporate her favorite to honor her.
