SeraiMas SeraiMas is a food catering business in Spokane, WA specializes in Malaysian food. “Selamat Datang” or welcome to my SeraiMas, Malaysian Food Catering page.

I am Alice Koh, a Straits Born Chinese or Peranakan Nyonya from Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia. “Peranakan” refers to a person of mixed Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage. With this heritage and cultural background, food is essentially a way of life. I am excited to introduce Malaysian cuisines to Spokane by cooking and catering at Feast World Kitchen.

FEATURING Chef Alice of SeraiMas -- 2025 Food Vendor at the New Scale House Market!

We reached out to Chef Alice Koh to ask about her growing business, her goals for 2025, and her experiences at Feast World Kitchen. Here's what she has to share!

"My catering company SeraiMas (www.seraimas.com) took off in the middle of last year. I have since offered Malaysian food to Spokane independently as well as through Feast. I am excited to be selected as one of the food vendors at The Scale House Market, scheduled to open by the end of May. You will see SeraiMas cooking there 3 times a week. I love introducing Malaysian food culture to Spokane and have been working on several menus, so there will be different dishes each day!

My goals this year are to get a permanent vendor spot ( The Scale House Market ). I like to provide better exposure and awareness of Malaysian food. Malaysia is a "melting pot of food", reflecting its diverse cultural heritage with influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Straits Born Chinese (Nyonya Food), Thai, Indonesia and other cuisines, resulting in a unique and flavorful culinary experience. Lastly, my goal is also to save enough to build a library for our Balinese Kids Project that we started last year.

Feast World Kitchen is instrumental in getting me to where I am today. The cooking opportunities to test the market for my food, to mentorships and programs available to enhance and improve my performance and knowledge. Many positive people in the Feast community have helped to make me stand confident in what I am doing today. Giving back comes naturally. I embrace Feast's mission and support and gladly help other chefs; by mentoring, taking photos of their food, and even building websites. We are a FAMILY."

Alice has always been surrounded by the artistry of cooking, a skill passed down from her grandmother, aunts, and especially her mother. She makes all of her curries and gravies from scratch, without any MSG. She takes great pride in the fine art of presentation, and these details are reflected in her offerings.

Alice's cooking style is an exciting blend of traditional and fusion, always willing to adapt to customer needs and interests while relying on her tried-and-true skills and knowledge of authentic cuisine.

This mirrors Alice’s strong support and care for others, which she has shown to our community time and time again. Alice is incredibly generous with her time, especially when supporting fellow chefs, particularly those who specialize in Asian cuisine. She is deeply committed to Feast as a community of learning and support, and this has been an invaluable contribution to us! Enjoy her food at Feast this Friday April 11!

Thank you everyone for coming to Feast World Kitchen yesterday. We appreciate your supports and patience. We got really so busy with orders, some of you had to wait too long for your food. I apologize sincerely. I hope you have enjoyed the dishes that we served. These dishes will be available at SeraiMas booth at The Scale House Market when it opens.

MALAYSIAN CHINESE & NYONYA FOOD

Come try Malaysian Chinese version of deep fried spring rolls, shrimps in blankets, and steamed beef basil bao buns. I am also serving Hainanese Chicken Rice and a deep fried version using chicken thigh. These are very popular street food in Malaysia. Also for vegetables lovers, there will be stir fry mixed veggies bowl in the menu.

Straits Born Chinese (Nyonya Food) are the Kerabu Salad (Rice Vermicelli Salad with Tofu or Chicken), and Bubur Cha Cha dessert.

Clock in ticking and I am getting excited to have my day cooking at Feast World Kitchen again. The date is next Friday, April 11. I am featuring some Malaysian dishes that I will be offering at The Scale House Market scheduled to launch in late May. YES!!! SeraiMas will have a permanent place 3 times a week at the first indoor Farmer's Market in Spokane!

The menu for this coming Friday at Feast features some Malaysian Dim Sum items like spring rolls, shrimps in blankets, and steamed beef basil bao buns. There is also our fans' favorite Nyonya Kerabu Salad, a cold rice vermicelli noodles salad with Southeast Asian herbs and spices. Home comfort food, available in all corners of Malaysia are the Chinese Chicken Rice. I will have the popular Poached Chicken Rice with fragrant ginger, garlic steamed rice along with my take on the deep fried version. Both comes with a must have Chili Garlic Ginger Sauce that you will pour over the chicken and rice. Heat level is mild. Psstt... if you're reading this and plan on coming to dine next Friday, request for the Bird Eye Chili with Dark Sweet Soy Sauce. This is spicy!

We are not forgetting folks who enjoy vegetables - We have stir fry mixed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflowers, carrots, cabbage, sweet peppers, baby corn, and sweet peas) with flavorful ginger garlic Jasmine Rice.

End your meal with a mildly sweet dessert of Bubur Cha Cha, a sweet and fragrant coconut milk base with a medley of ingredients like taro, sweet potatoes, sago pearls, red rubies (water chestnuts) and Jackfruit slices.

For drinks, we will have Mango Lemonade with Basil Seeds and a free flow of Chinese tea per order.

When you dine with us at Feast World Kitchen this Friday, you can also collect a 20% off SeraiMas food voucher to take to The Scale House Market when it opens. Look under comment section for how the voucher looks like.

Ordering food in advance is highly recommended. This is to ensure you get your food choices since I only make a certain amount per food item. Feast World Kitchen will update their website by Monday evening. My team and I are looking forward to serving Spokane and share my Malaysian food culture. See you next Friday!

Introducing Malaysia Cantonese Yee Mee. Noodles are deep-fried to golden brown, producing a crispy and chewy texture. They are served soaked in a savory, thick egg gravy with a side of pickled green chili.

Chicken Rice with Crispy Fried Chicken::
A very flavorful rice infused with ginger, garlic and sesame oil, then seasoned with fried shallots. Crispy fried boneless chicken thigh marinated with ginger, garlic and seasoning. Dashes of sriracha mayo and thicken sweet soy sauce on chicken, then sprinkled with chopped cilantro complete this delicious dish assemble.
