✨The power of asking for help ✨

I always carry a bag of tools, zip ties, and construction grade wire for installing floral pieces. My nemesis are gazebos. As snug as I zip tie and wire floral installments, there is always a chance of them slipping.

So- I asked Bob for help. I told him how helpful a couple of eye hooks would be. He asked me if I wanted him to do it- I thought he was joking. Before I knew it, there were two sturdy hooks drilled into his gazebo, for me! This was such an enormous help, not just for me, but because these arbor pieces will be used after the ceremony at the head table. How easy for them to just unhook them!

So thank you again Bob!! You made my day 😊

Other florists, look away 😅

I used to have an Explorer that fit floral boxes ✨perfectly ✨ and don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to have this Trooper. It just does not hold as much, as well as the Explorer did 😬

Side note: I’m so glad I got my husband these bungie cords for Christmas 😂

Sometimes you phone a friend, sometimes you have to change your plan, and sometimes you just have to make it work. For those of you who are interested, nothing moved an inch on the drive, and nothing got squished either. 😎

I’ll post a whole shot of these guys at Flannel Ball later. It’s amazing what can fit in the back of the Trooper, wind up filling a huge room 🤗

Day 3 of 2023 throwbacks

The fall of 2023 I made a post to share my opinions on posting photos of funeral flowers. As a recap- I don’t do it. It’s a personal policy I know not everyone shares, and that’s ok, it’s just not something I feel right about doing. I do save pictures in case I am asked to do funeral or memorial flowers, I like being able to show my work when it is appropriate.

I had taken this photo when I was in the middle of funeral flowers for my friend’s grandpa. I was thinking about the sting of death, but the sweetness of leaving a world of pain behind. Thinking about the old saying, roses and thorns, and them not smelling sweet without the pain.

These are Hearts roses. I’ve used them for weddings and now funerals. I think they are so appropriate for both. We cannot live without pain, but life is so enriched with sweet smelling roses, and joy, amid the pain.

I did more funerals than weddings last year. As much as it is an honor to be asked to create the floral pieces to represent and remember a loved one- I’d rather not have memorial flowers outweigh weddings again. But it is not for us to decide.

I do realize by not posting memorial and funeral flowers, I am limiting the amount of work I show, and likely not getting in front of as many people as I can. But that’s not what I am all about. I do flowers to help others, not myself. I would rather do what I feel is right, than compromise my beliefs and make more money in the process.

Day 2 of throwbacks from 2023

I got to know this last year. She has the sweetest family and the best you pick flowers farm.

I had known about the farm, but did not realize how close they were to me. I shot out there a number of times last summer and fall. Their dahlias are incredible, and they grow my favorite variety of zinnias. I am looking forward to going back this summer for more “garden goodies” ♥️

I have so enjoyed .in.may over the past few years; not only her flower knowledge, but her quiet way of supporting me as a mom too. But, making the trek to see her got harder with the kids in tow. I need to make my way up there in 2024- hold me to it .in.may !

Throwback time ♥️

I’ve done such a poor job of posting my work this last year. I could blame it on any number of things, but I won’t.

I take pride in my work, in working with my clients, but I do a poor job of showing my work or staying ontop of my website.

So, I am going to try and do 1 throwback photo each day for as long as I can. To showcase a picture I forgot to post, share a thought I meant to post and didn’t, or even finally post some of the professional photos my lovely clients sent me.

I’ll start here- this is from September 2023, for a lovely bride named Lindsay. I’ve known Lindsay and her family for almost 20 years. I had the pleasure of doing her sisters wedding flowers years ago, doing a Bible study with her mom, and hunting with her dad. It is such a pleasure to be involved with family friends weddings- truly the best gift I can give!

Full petal fluffy roses, fragrant carnations, and just a whisper of white alstromeria 🤩🎄

It seems wrong somehow that we don’t have heaps of snow outside to go with this snowball of a bouquet!

I am ok with it though… I won’t worry about the bride sliding off the sidewalk or someone slipping on my sidewalk with a box full of bouquets! 🤪

I’ve spent hours with these roses over the past week, unboxing, hydration, processing, trimming, fresh water, refilling a humidifier 5 times… and today I finally get to do the final trim, relax them (can we call this “romanticizing them” instead?!), and design them!

I was asked a few weeks ago if I could do a quick wedding 2 days after Christmas. Of course I said yes! It’s for a military man who’s home for the holidays, he wants to get married so he can take his sweetheart with him before he gets stationed abroad 😍 did someone call ??

Due to the logistics and shipping dates around the holidays, I had to carefully plan which flowers and roses I was going to include in the wedding flowers, and then plan a hydration and trimming schedule to make sure these guys would be stunners for their debut tomorrow 🤩

Stay posted for the final results… 7-10 business days as I’m sure real life will catch up and I’ll forget to post tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Grief.

I’ve been struggling whether to say something, or just let the moment pass gracefully.

I have a personally policy against posting photos of memorial flowers. It doesn’t matter how beautiful I think they are, I prefer that they be given to the family without drawing attention to my work. This is a sacred time, emotional, devastating, and should be treated with respect.

When I create wedding flowers, it’s a celebration. I listen to country music and think about the couple, and pray for them.

This is different. I’m so hesitant to start. I want to get it right. This is more important in some ways, and in others, these flowers don’t matter a bit. But in either case, it’s imperative that it be done to the best of my ability.

But I am struggling. I’m praying for my friend. And it hurts. My heart hurts for her. I’m staring at these ge**er daises praying for help, because I cannot do this alone.

OH. M. GOODNESS 😱😳♥️♥️♥️

Doing arrangements each year for ‘s biggest fundraising event is the highlight of my September each year! It’s an honor each time Alene calls and asks if I can do it, truly though, I cannot say no to her. It has been such a pleasure to work with Alene over the years, she is truly an inspiring, encouraging, and strong woman. She is one of those ladies that when you hang up the phone after talking to her, you feel like you can tackle the world!

Anyone going to ‘s breakfast tomorrow? Can I tell you more about what they do in the community? Is this something you’d like to be a part of?

Hey! I’m still here, just busy doing other things this summer 🥰

It’s been a busy season of not working, playing in the garden, and taking the kids to the lake or river multiple times a week. Scratch cooking, canning, food preservation, reading and writing, and enjoying time slowing down.

I am not done done with wedding flowers, but I have taken a big step back. I would like to look into more ways to be with flowers, without the pressure of weddings each summer weekend.

But most of all, I am just taking life as it comes, accepting what God has for me, and not pushing my own agenda ♥️

Cheers to one more month of summer 🌻🪴🌻

It’s a cheery sight.... bright flowers on the counter, school work and a sewing machine too, and art projects on the fridge. I won’t lie- it’s also chaos, and was a mental stretch to bring my work to the kitchen so my husband could be on calls near my studio (read: I was keeping the loud child at a distance for sake of said phone calls). But daily blessed to be home, even when I’m working ♥️

This is a double wedding weekend for me- I don’t do that often. I’m tired but so blessed to be chosen for this work, for these weddings. Here’s hoping tomorrow won’t be too windy at 💨🍂💐

It’s been chaos over here! 🤪 going to be bold and share with you all...

We’ve been looking for a house and land for years, and this market has not made it easy. We’ve finally found a dream of a home and we are so excited to make it our home, BUT, we need to sell our current home first!

I don’t usually share so much of my personal life on this platform, but, I want to post just in case any of you are looking in the 5 Mile Prairie area! Bonus: it already has a floral studio! ☺️🌿

Feel free to message me, get your agent on the line, or contact ours! Thanks for reading my non-floral post! 🥰
