📚"Reading is at the core of our democracy. Our future depends on ensuring students are equipped with the skills to build an equitable society for all of us" - Jenny MacKenzie, Film Director

Northwest Passages and The Black Lens present a documentary screening of THE RIGHT TO READ, which shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.

Screening of the film will be followed by a panel discussion.

This event is part of a service project in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy that prioritized literacy at the grassroots level. Community partners include the NAACP and The Black Lens.

Welcome!

The Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center welcomes Spokane-area audiences to year-round music, theatre, and dance performances by Gonzaga students and faculty, regional performers and arts organizations, and national artists.

The new Center was made possible through an extraordinary $55 million gift from the late Miss Myrtle Woldson. Through her generosity and love for the arts, Miss Woldson has given Gonzaga University and the Spokane community a state-of-the-art facility in which to experience inspiring, surprising, and elevating arts performances.

The Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center is home to:

Fr. Bernard J. Coughlin, S.J. Theater: A 759-seat hall with seating on two floors, state-of-the art sound, lighting, and stage equipment, excellent acoustics, and close views of the stage from every seat.
