So, it’s that time of year. Time to get our “Merry” on.
I normally will not attempt to decorate for Christmas until Thanksgiving is over. But, sometimes I eat my words and do what I said I would not do.
Neighbors, we have so MUCH to be thankful for.
One of the things that we can all be thankful for are our area merchants, the people who, day in and day out, open their doors and turn on their lights to serve our community.
Last year, the Design Team at The Gallery of Artistic Hair Design sponsored their first MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS LIGHT UP COMPETITION for the Memorial Blvd merchants. We had 5 entries and the winner of the traveling trophy was STATE FARM INSURANCE -BETH NULL DORRIS.
We are sponsoring this fun challenge again this year with a little more than a traveling trophy. To spice things up…the first place winner will not only receive the sought after traveling trophy, they will receive a $1,000.00 cash prize, Sponsored by CHRISTMAS DONE BRIGHT(a local business on North Main)
The Second place prize will be $500.00, sponsored by PENNY CALLIS, Realtor with COBB HILL Cobb Hill Homes.
This year we have 9 Merchants who have expressed their desire to enter the competition. The judging started tonight the 17th and will finish on the 19th. They will be judged by theme, creativity, and how well they light up our drive through Memorial.

Dear Memorial Blvd Merchants:

The holidays are just around the corner, and I know that it is a busy time for all of us. Our city works diligently to provide a festive environment for all to enjoy, from the Winter Wonderland at J. Travis Price Park to the decorations down our city streets.
I have been in business on Memorial Blvd (The Gallery of Artistic Hair Design) since 1995 and I have always wanted to form an alliance with my Memorial Blvd neighbors in order to work together and promote our city and local businesses. Yes, it has taken me a long time to work towards that dream and I am finally moving forward. For starters, I would like to see our Memorial Blvd “lit up” for the holidays. I would like to invite you to join me as I try to orchestrate this adventure.
We, successfully, lit up a portion of Memorial Blvd. last year with our inaugural businesses. The winner of our Prestigious Traveling Trophy was State Farm Insurance, Beth Null Dorris.
This year, along with the trophy, the WINNER will receive a $1,000.00 cash prize (Donated by Christmas Done Bright, a local business in Springfield). The SECOND PLACE WINNER will receive a $500.00 cash prize (Donated by The Gallery of Artistic Hair Design). The winners will be announced on all city media sites.
Just imagine the “energy” we can establish if we all decorate and “light up” our businesses. Can I get a commitment from you? Join in the fun, we are going to have our Second annual “Merry Little Christmas Light Up” competition. Please don’t delay in contacting us. We will need ALL entry forms in no later than November 13 to be eligible for judging on the weekend of 11/17 – 11/19. There is NO ENTRY FEE for this contest. All participants will receive a SPECIAL OFFER of 20% off all items from Christmas Done Bright’s Springfield Location.
