November 3, 1923 - The Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri was dedicated. At the time, it was hailed as one of the largest auditoriums west of the Mississippi. Elvis Presley played a sparsely attended concert here in 1956. Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan appeared there. The Mosque was restored in 1997.
