We are most-definitely biased, but we love how every defect from 120+ years of use on these old floors have been embraced. Shawn Monfette & his M&M Hardwood crew went overboard to make our vision come true!

Yesterday's post mentioned a car accident about Henry Tatham, the general manager of the Springfield Woolen Mills from the start in 1903 until 1927. Here is an article concerning his death published in the Murfreesboro Daily News-Journal on September 6, 1927.

One would wonder if these ci**rs ordered by Harry Tatham, the General Manager of the Woolen Mills, were used for personal enjoyment, or given as gifts... No matter the purpose, they averaged a little over 11 cents per cigar in 1923.

Henry, along with his brothers Will and John were recruited in 1903 from Franklin, KY to get the Springfield Woolen Mills in operation. Harry remained as the general manager until a car accident took his life in 1927.

It's officially summer break, and we're making the most of it by getting some extra hands on deck for our brick cleaning and stacking efforts. The task may be hot and dusty, but we're determined to prepare these clay bricks for future rebuilding purposes. With teamwork and a little sweat, we're making progress one brick at a time.

We're thrilled to unveil our newest addition to the special collection - a Pullman Railroad Company Blanket! This remarkable piece was acquired from a family member of a former conductor, and it comes with a tourist tag that adds to its charm. Pullman was renowned for providing the epitome of sleep, and what better item to evoke a sense of slumber than a quality wool blanket?

The Springfield Woolen Mills played a vital role in the production of Pullman Blankets. In 1926, they were commissioned to create 3000 blankets at $6.75 each, and their production continued for years thereafter. The blanket featured in the picture dates back to 1917, indicated by the decoding of the number 11. It's fascinating to note that the numbering system began in 1907, with the first blankets adorned with the Number 1.

We've researched ways to date the bottle, but the markings are buried underneath the dried concrete on the bottle. (Current search: how to remove concrete from glass.) We love it when we receive messages like this! This is a photo sent by Lissa Stoll. It's a little relic from the Mills that she uses almost daily - a letter opener provided by a wool supplier. Lissa's grandfather worked at the Springfield Woolen Mills in maintenance until it closed in 1963.

Do you have a photo or item to share with ties to the Woolen Mills or NASCO? We'd love to see it and possibly share!
