Lisianthus, stock & tonight's gorgeous sunset🌼

P.S. can you believe we still have flowers blooming in late October, in Nebraska!?

Many of you have been asking when 2025 subscriptions will be opening up & as of right now I'm planning to have them available on November 30th for small business Saturday. I'm still figuring out details to make the whole process as smooth as possible but here's what I'm thinking so far..

○3 large bouquets, one in Spring, Summer & Fall. April/May, July & September.
○Same price of $75
○Pickup ONLY at our farm (🤞🤞 hopefully sharing exciting info about the pickup spot after harvest/when my unpaid help becomes available again 😜)
○Member only discounts & perks

I'm excited about changing the timing of the bouquets to really offer up the best flowers of each season. I've learned over the last 2 years that June is a tough in-between time & August is death by corn beetles, so I'm planning on those being our "slower" months to plan & prep for upcoming seasons.

P.S. we will have some stock available hopefully in the next week-ish, so be on the lookout 👀

I grew a LOT of new to me things this year, but by far my favorite is lisianthus. I'll be starting thousands of seeds in just a couple months compared to the mere 40ish I grew for this year 😳 🤞🤞

A bunch of flowers went out today & now that it's October (what happened to September?) We're taking it day by day since we know it can go from 94° to freezing in no time. We will still have a few cool season flowers coming up this month, and we'll post them here as they become available.

I'm a bad flower farmer & didn't note when I cut these, but they are at least 5 days old & still going strong! The flowers that love the warm weather & long days are coming to an end pretty quickly, but these cool season flowers are just showing off 🤩

Stock is coming back 👏 I started these from seed in my basement in July, and it was a bit scary for a while with all the hot temps but shade cloth saved the day once again!

Lots more colors & varieties will be popping up soon but I'm loving these & had to share! 🤍🩷

Almost everyone asked about our brain flowers yesterday! It's called cockscomb, a type of celosia & named after the cockscomb on roosters 🐓 they're perfect for fall flowers, last forever in the vase & give a fun texture to your bouquets 🤓

Turn a bucket into a bouquet 🪄

The stock that isnt supposed to survive in hot temps is here anyways so we'll have some of that, the last of our lisianthus, and of course tons of dahlias & more at our very last farmers market for this year on Thursday! Be sure to come see us!

Did these dahlias catch your attention? K good because I have a question. Our last farmers market & last event (unless something very last minute comes up) is next Thurs the 19th.. do you want a bouquet bar? If YES, do you want to pick a size of cup/vase to fill as much as possible, or pay by the stem?

IF we do a bouquet bar, I will still have some pre-made bouquets ready to go for those who just want to grab & go, and I can help you make something if you'd like.

Jomanda, another dahlia tuber purchased for it's name, because for those of you who don't know me, I'm Amanda Jo! So hello to my new followers! I have over 600 of you now 🤯 which is very cool (and slightly intimidating) to think that it's not just friends & family following me anymore 🫣 thanks for keeping this little flower farm dream alive!

Now for the fun stuff. September is our last guaranteed full month of flowers as we get closer to our first frost date. It's the last month for subscription bouquets, and our last farmers market on the 19th. While I'm hoping some of our cool season flowers can go into October, maybe November, it's not up to me. That being said, I'd LOVE to clear out the rest of my tshirts this month! I have an armful of mediums & larges, and one xl left. For all of September, with the purchase of any flowers (even a $10 bud vase!) All remaining shirts are just $15. Shoot me a message or you can order on my website & use code 5OFF at checkout.

If you read all of this, THANK YOU 💛

September already! I've been slacking on posting lately (cue back to school & sick kids) here's a few of my favorite subscription bouquets that went out in August 😍

We spent ALL DAY yesterday w**ding, mowing, trimming, laying out w**d barrier, chasing kids, planting fall flowers, dead-heading & dreaming of BOB's future. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking a cut flower farm is easy peasy lemon squeezy 🤪

THIS 👇

Pricing flowers is hard. There is so much behind the scenes work that happens every single day, all year long. My costs aren't cheap, but yet I feel like I can't possibly charge more than what you'd pay at costco because I fear nobody would see their value. I could go on & on & on about this sore subject but maybe another day. Support your local flower farmer 👩‍🌾🌻

Yesterday at the market, with 4 of my 18 bouquets left, someone came into my booth, looked at my flowers and muttered under their breath, “these aren’t worth $20.” And I thought about it for a bit…and here’s the thing; I haven’t talked all season about why my flowers cost more than the ones at the store. So here we go.

My flowers ARE worth $20. They’re priced using USDA market guidelines. They don’t cost what Costco flowers cost because *I* grow them. Here. At my house. They’re not flown here from South America. They’re not grown in a greenhouse. They grow in the Nebraska sunshine.

They’re started in my basement from seeds, some back in January. That means I’m tending to them DAILY for MONTHS before they come to you.

Since I start them myself, I know exactly what touches them from start to finish. When you buy flowers that have been imported (that’s pretty much all of em at the grocery store, definitely the ones from Costco) they’re dipped in fungicide, pesticide and who knows what all else time and time again to meet the strict import requirements. I’m not telling ya how to live your life, but I’d rather not have that on my kitchen table.

So when flowers are flown in from usually South America…they’re usually not flown in water. They’re flown dry. That stress and that time without water takes away from the vase life. It makes my heart so happy when my customers tell me how long my flowers hold up!

Additionally, some flowers don’t fly well. So you can’t get them at the store. Dahlias? Even mine have a shorter vase life; that’s who they are. They’ll never last a week in transit. Petals will fall off. Zinnias? Don’t put them in a cooler…they’ll turn brown.

So while there are people everywhere who like to share unhelpful opinions…I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who supports us local growers. Flower farming is unpredictable and tricky. It is a work of passion and your support and love keeps us going. I love my customers and I will keep growing pretty, poison-free stuff for you! 😘😘

All sold! Thank you thank you 🙌

So sometimes, I get carried away with cutting flowers for subscriptions & forget how to count 🫣 and we also get short stems that need to be cut to allow the taller ones to bloom, and I can't bear to just toss them.. so I have mason jars available! These things are loaded with dahlias!! Please comment or DM if you'd like one! Pickup at my house near 180th & Buffalo road for $20, or I can deliver to Springfield, Louisville or Gretna areas tomorrow for $25.
