Happy New Year!! Apologies for having been absent on social media for a while. We've been enjoying our off-season. We had a lovely couple out to elope yesterday, New Years Eve! And today our new friend Jill sent these photos... Her grandad, Joe Williamson helped build our house, back in the 1930's. I remember Joe, he still lived across the street when I was a kid! Here are her words in text as she shared:

Happy New Year! I’m in town and my dad and I went through some photos yesterday and wanted to share a few with you and your Dad. That day we spent together was a highlight for both of us this last year.
Here is a photo of the men that built the house. I don’t know how they did it without any motors, but they walked up and down that hill carrying rock from the creek to the top to build the concrete forms. Using wheel barrows.
My granddad Joe is bottom left. His father Bob is bottom right. Granddad‘s brother Monk is top in the middle. They all lived across the street in 3 different houses going up the hill to my Granddad Joe’s house.
They built the house for a rich lawyer for the city of Springfield named Mr. Bates. My dad‘s uncle Monk (after helping build the house) was his personal chauffeur, as Mr Bates didn’t drive. Monk had to dress very nice and drove him all over and even all the way to St. Louis or Kansas City to attend boxing events or whatever Mr. Bates wanted. Our family felt very lucky that he built that house across the street because he had enough money to bring electricity out. My hillbilly family was able to have electricity before all others. Ha! Here is Monk all dressed up with Mr Bates fancy car at the house I’m assuming.

We recently got a 5⭐️ review from a couple married here 23 years ago. I love this! I was just in h.s. at the time, my mom Laura was running the business, but I remember this wonderful couple because I still have photo prints of their wedding in an old album that Mom used to share with prospective couples. Just so cool that we have been a part of so many love stories for so long now (since 1996) and we're still appreciated. Thank you!!! ❤️

Our regular season is now over, so we're taking a family vacation to a friend's wedding in the Northeast! If you need to chat before Nov 6, today's the day! We leave early tomorrow, Oct. 30th.
