It’s time for another Wednesday Antique Furniture Feature!

Check out this English Mahogany Queen Anne style Lowboy. Gorgeous mahogany wood with four functional dovetailed drawers with brass pulls. Carved fan motif on the beautiful curved legs. Such a great piece that could be used in so many places in the home.

Mike and I went to Germantown, Tennessee to visit a few stores we follow for inspiration. was a fabulous Spring open house! The store was phenomenal! It was fun to get our picture with John Mark! We bought some beautiful ribbon, two wreaths, and of course 2 JohnMark bows! Second stop was who Millstone Market & Nursery has a beautiful greenhouse and gift shop! (They were remodeling the gift shop when we were there)! We bought some amazing hellebores, stephenotis, and a candle! Third stop was a happy accident. We stumbled across the cutest little house of a flower shop ! We were able to meet the owner Kevin! I would have loved to talk with him about how he got started! What a beautiful flower shop and gift shop! We bought some amazing porporri and of course a candle! Our last stop was La Maison Antiques. They specialize in European antiques and I wanted to take 20 pieces home with us. My favorite piece was the oil painting with the pond! They had so many beautiful things! We bought 2 incredible down feather green pillows and a pheasant pillow! What a fun weekend it was! Lots of inspiring things to see!! We got some great ideas from each and every store!

Snow Day at home! We checked on the animals, walked by the creek, walked up the hill to see Barbara, tried to do some sledding, stopped in the greenhouse to warm up, and headed back home!

Tradescantia Callisia ‘pink panther’

This purple-pink tradescantia has the smallest leaves ever! These plants grow tightly with time, forming a mound or beehive shape. The pink panther certainly has a more lavender color than the bianca variety, as well as having more consistent coloring!

To keep the pink color strong, place in medium light & occasionally trim back excess green stems. Their cute color can fade with both too little or too much sun! Place your plant directly in a North or East window (or pull away from South).

🌧️ let the first couple inches dry out.. they like to dry a little but not completely! 1/2 way!
🪴 terracotta is the best! rich, well draining mix!

Wednesday Antique Furniture Feature!

Look at this exquisite English Mahogany Stepback Two Door Bookcase with original glass. Has one drawer with beautiful brass pulls. And top and bottom both have their own ape pate key. It’s rich wood finish and intricate carvings add a touch of sophistication to any room, making it a perfect addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Dracaena surculosa ‘milky way’

This little beauty is making its first appearance in the our greenhouse! Such a simple stunner, the white center spash demands attention! This variety is certainly a fancy take on the ‘florida beauty’ we commonly see. They are simple to care for, but are sensitive to excess fluoride! Water with filtered or distilled to avoid browning. Dracaenas are slow growers, though with time can grow to be rather tall! The milky way has a very unique and unpredictable shape to adore.

🪴 well draining soil– consider a clay pot!

Wednesday Antique Furniture Feature!

Oak Draw Leaf Trestle Base Dining Table from England in Elizabethan Style. Constructed with wooden dowels and dove tail joints. Measures 45 L x 28 W x 29 H and expands to 69 L when ends are drawn out from underneath.

This table is so versatile! Could be used as a dining table, library table, desk, could be a lovely display piece in an entryway, so many possibilities!

Walk through with me and admire Jen’s beautiful decorating all the while seeing and talking about her gorgeous house plants! Jen and Jonny Jeppsen live in a 100 year-old plus historic incredible home in Springfield’s midtown district!
They have six children, 3 girls and 3 boys, with the last four whom live at home! Allie, Meghan, Molly, twin boys Danny and Charlie, and Jimmy! I can’t forget to mention their two well behaved Irish Cream Retrievers Archie and Henry! Jonny is a craftsman by trade and Jen is busy raising her four teenagers, their sweet Retrievers, working on house projects, keeping her darling booth at Vintage Peddler up and running, caring for plants, serving at their church and many other endeavors!
Jen has an amazing touch with houseplants and wait until you see her Maidenhair Ferns! 💚 She has great advice for watering and propagating with her plants!

I’m dreaming of color and thinking about what color scheme would be dreamy to plant for Schaffitzel’s and Bernadine’s this year! It’s hard to beat the Supertunia Vista Bubblegum Petunias by Proven Winners!Their performance during the growing season is phenomenal!🌸
Our Proven Winner starter plants should arrive soon in the Fair Grove greenhouses to grow for the 2025 Spring season! There will be some NEW ones!👏 Are you planning yet?

A year of our window boxes at Bernadine’s!
Spring, Summer/Fall, & Winter! There isn’t much room in those little boxes so they require daily water and food in the summer & fall but not as much in the Spring and Winter! They became very overgrown last Fall. We had pumpkins and gourds among the foliage but you couldn’t see them! See those tall greens stems at the beginning? Those are blueberry bushes which produced last Spring! It was so fun to eat the berries!🫐

They are currently planted with the evergreen spheres called Heitz Midget Arborvitae. Those are zone 4 which makes them hardy enough to survive the winter in the containers! Do you have any planted evergreen containers?

I’m already dreaming of planting for our boxes and planters this year! How about you?💜🤍💛💕💚
Spring came the first of March last year!

Save your milk jugs and water jugs!! We will begin our winter in two weeks!!🌱

Wednesday Antique Furniture Feature!

Antique Oak and Burl Wood Hutch with Hammered Brass Teardrop pulls with hammered brass clover or flower backplate—Made in England. Available at Bernadine’s at Schaffitzel’s. A lovely color to this rustic, substantial, handsome piece (two pieces). Scallop frieze across top and deep plate grooves on all upper shelves, bevel edge to top of lower cabinet with three separate Burl Wood accented drawers with dovetail construction. Handsome oak paneled doors on the lower that occupy removable shelves and notice the beautiful carved detailing on each end.

This would be a gorgeous addition to your home!

Potatoes 🥔 , onions 🧅 , & garlic 🧄! We just got in several early-spring gardening staples, for those that want to get the planting started! We are a family-run, local business who have been serving the Springfield, Missouri area since 1949 and have loved every minute of it! We have a commercial greenhouse and flower shop, along with a gift shop, that is located at 1771 E. Atlantic Street, Springfield, MO 65803 all of which are open all year round. Our lovely florists can arrange flowers for any occasion from wedding bouquets, to a prom corsage. In our greenhouses, we offer a wide variety of houseplants such as fiddle leaf figs and succulents. During the gardening seasons (Spring and Fall), we offer many different kinds of vegetable starts, seeds, and other gardening essentials, as well as some of the best advice in town, to help ensure that you’re off on the right track with your garden!
