Moss, Cultural Educator Andrew Keaton, and 90.7 WTCC Radio Personality James Lewis made the decision to produce a monthly venue that would bring good wholesome live music to the city of Springfield and give Indie-Artists a home in the region. Many successful events later, Organix Promotions with the assistance of Indie Artist Big Brooklyn Red has turned its focus towards attracting local and regional visitors to Springfield’s Beautiful River Front Park along the Connecticut River where we can help shine a light on the many talented artists, businesses and attractions in the region; Of course, that’s in addition to producing a great cultural community event on Saturday August 27, 2011. Guess What Else Will Be Going on In the Park!!! The Springfield Indie Soul Fest will be hosting its FIRST-EVER Dance / Step Exhibition on Saturday, August 27, 2011. The Step Show Competition will bring the percussive, up-to-your-head and down-to-your-shoes rhythm of step dancing to the Indie Soul Festival in a stunning exhibition of high-energy, synchronized teamwork and collective pride. 📢 Important Announcement: Springfield Indie Soul Festival Update 🎶

Dear Springfield Indie Soul Family,

We regret to inform you that the Springfield Indie Soul Festival will not be happening this year. We know how much this event means to our community, and it truly breaks our hearts to hit pause.

But here’s the good news: we’ll be back and better than ever in August 2025! We’re taking this time to plan an even more unforgettable experience filled with the soulful sounds you love.

To all our faithful festival-goers, we’ll definitely miss you this year. Your support and energy are what make this festival so special, and we can’t wait to groove with you again soon.

We sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause, but trust us, the wait will be worth it. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to creating new memories with you next year!

Why does the Springfield Indie Soul Festival charge $20.00 admission?

The obvious expenses are city fees[park fees, police detail, licensing fee, etc., around 4k-5k easy], production costs [sound and lighting], private security, equipment rental, Festival supplies, and more... But the biggest and perhaps the most important aspect of the festival – the artist fees. The performers, the houseband, speakers, African Dance and Drumming all of them... Are not Free.

What about the sponsorship... This is not a "mainstream" event. Thus we do not get the banks, media, or other sponsorships that typically provide underwriting for events like this. Sooo we cover the majority of the cost out of pocket because cultural events are important to us.
We do in fact appreciate the small business owners who donate services and funds to help us to keep the cost manageable - Thank you to S-Cello, The Metro Record, 6Bricks, Mass Cultural Council, and the Boys and Girls Club Family Center for your support.

So end the end we charge adults $20.00 [kids are free] in hope that this event and events like this are important enough to you to continue supporting. Hope this explains the admission cost.
